Talulah Paige Dawson was born on Halloween Night in nineteen ninety-five in Charleston, South Carolina. Her parents Teresa and Travis Dawson were both thrilled to have a baby girl, even though Mrs. Dawson secretly hoped for a baby boy. It didn’t matter either way, the young couple was just happy to have a healthy baby anyway. And when it was time to bring Talulah home, the Dawson’s were nothing but overjoyed. Everyone would be so excited to finally meet the cute little one who’d bring so much joy into their lives. Growing up, Talulah was a happy child. Enrolling in school was easy because she showed early signs of being a smart child. She graduated pre-kindergarten early and skipped into the first grade. However, once in first grade Talulah showed that she was interested in the arts and dressing up. She was also a very happy child, making friends so easy with her outgoing personality. It would lead for bigger things for her in the future.
During Talulah’s preteen years, she kinda felt awkward. Sure she was popular but to her it didn't matter. Her home life was in shambles because her parents were arguing on and off. On top of that she had been keeping a secret from her mother. She had saw her father at the hospital receiving chemotherapy. Talulah had confronted Mr. Dawson and he told his daughter that he was batting stage 3 Leukemia. He begged Talulah not to tell anyone, especially Teresa. He didn’t want his wife to worry. However, after a month Teresa had found out and was furious at her husband and daughter. In the end Travis survived and won his battle with cancer. It was a happy ending for the entire Dawson family. It was as if the heavens were shining good luck on the family.
With all the good news going on Teresa completely forgot about the phone call she had received for her husband. He was getting a promotion but was needed elsewhere for the position. The family would have to move to Boston. It wasn’t going to be an easy transition because Talulah loved living in Charleston. All of her friends were here and even her family. When her mother and father finally told Talulah the news, she was devastated. How could they just leave everyone and everything they’ve ever known behind? In the end the Dawson clan uprooted upward to Boston Massachusetts. It would be a new change of pace for Talulah and everyone but she’d have to get used to it.
Living in Boston was quite the adventure for the Dawson family. Talulah hated it at first, missing the South Carolian air and all her friends. However after enrolling in middle school, she began to loosen up. She made friends with one person in particular who happened to be her neighbor Kaycee Myles. Her father had actually known Teresa and Travis for a long time. Mason Myles had been Travis’ Commanding Officer back when he was stationed in Houston Texas. This was way before Talulah was born. At the moment, Travis was still considered active duty but was allowed to do his civilian job which was being a neurosurgeon. Talulah loved having her father home but secretly hoped he’d never have to leave.
As the years went by Talulah grew to love Boston and its way of life. She even squired a Bostonian accent and got into sports. She particularly loved the Redsox, Bruins and Celtics. Which Teresa was happy about because she was originally from Beantown but moved away in her early twenties. Being back gave Teresa a chance to show her daughter something new and exciting. High School was something amazing to Talulah but also meant she was growing up. No longer was she Talulah. She preferred to be called Lulu. Her style of clothing changed as she got older. She wore edgier styles and was bold. Her first two years flew by quickly as she was sorta still figuring out her place in the school hierarchy. But as soon as Junior year rolled around, Lulu was a popular little bean. She was co captain of the cheerleading squad and she had not only joined the drama club, but she launched the first environmental club at her school. Things were looking up for Lulu and she couldn’t wait to see what the future held for her.
The Summer of Senior year went by in a blur at first. However on a random day Lulu began to feel sick and passed out. She was rushed to the nearest emergency room to run some tests. The prognosis was bad. Lulu had cancer. Osteosarcoma to be exact. Her parents were devastated. Lulu felt numb. She didn’t want to be that sick girl. She went to follow her dreams and go off to Nursing school and live a long and successful life. The doctors said that Lulu had a significant chance with chemotherapy and radiation that she’d recover fully. It would just be a long road ahead of her. Lulu was determined to pull through 100%. So she did. She did her weekly chemo treatment and radiation treatment every few weeks. Lulu was not giving up and soon she got the best news of her life. She had been offered a full scholarship to attend Serenity State University back home in South Carolina and was going to be graduating High school earlier than expected. She was beyond excited and had been waiting and hoping for months for this opportunity. She would be learning from the best teachers and enrolling in an early nursing program to get extra credits for Nursing school. Lulu would still keep up with her treatment in South Carolina but there was no way in hell that cancer was gonna get her down.
Serenity South Carolina felt exactly like Charleston to Lulu and she absolutely loved it. She immediately made friends at school. Especially with her roommates in their off campus apartment. It was Co Ed but Lulu didn’t mind. She just loved the friendly environment. One girl in particular, Nicola Jenkins was basically Lulu’s twin. The two females were joined at the hip. They did everything together. Nicola showed Lulu the hotspots in SC while Lulu showed Nicola it was a good thing to get interested in sports and fashion. Lulu kept up with her weekly chemo and radiation treatments with the help of another friend Zeke Tyson. He was actually Nicola’s brother but sorta had a thing for Lulu. And she secretly did too. They dated for a year, while Lulu was trying to keep up with her busy schedule. Life was hectic but she didn’t want it any other way. Currently Lulu works at Serenity Hospital as a registered nurse and her cancer is in remission. When she isn’t pulling double shifts, she enjoys going to the beach, hanging out with her friends, lounging around binging Netflix with her pups Elvis and Ethel and trying new adventures.
