and some thoughts on the future of this blog
Sorry to inform you that I will have to close the inbox for a while due to going on vacation soon. So unless the other mods feel in the mood to reopen it in the meantime, your questions will have to wait until I am back.
That being said, it’s gotten very quiet here anyway and I am thinking about how to move forward with this blog. There used to be a time where I’ve gotten up to 10 messages per day and now there’ll be weeks or whole months without any. So maybe it’s time to retire this blog altogether?! I’m going to think about it for a while before making a decision but I have a feeling this blog might be moving towards being more of an archive than an ask-and-answer format.
The truth is that I have moved away from bi activism also in my offline life... which doesn’t mean I’m not still supporting the cause, but in my opinion there are currently more pressing issues and so all my activism energy is going into supporting Ukraine. I also noticed that whenever we do get a message here I have little motivation to answer it, frankly because I am annoyed at my own words and the repetition of it all. This is not at all meant to blame any of the people who message us, I know that to you it’s pressing and feels highly individual. I do want you to get the help and support that you need. But I’ve spent seven years of my life speaking about bisexuality and biphobia, on this blog but also a lot in public (meet-ups, interviews for magazines, podcasts, panels, meetings with politicians...). It’s a lot of the same old same old. I’ve grown tired and I want other people to step up and add their perspective because I don’t want to be seen as The Authority on bisexuality as if my opinions are law of the bi-land.
I’m not sure any of this makes sense to anyone other than me but I wanted to let you know what’s currently on my mind about this blog and I guess I’ll let you know later this summer if I’ve made a decision on how to move forward.

7: Writer I trust enough to read whatever they write? - not sure if this is about books or fics so I'll say Neil gaiman for books (even tho I haven't gotten the time to read a lot of his stuff yet rip) and for fic writers there's honestly so many. but @starkskypines comes to mind rn cause I don't usually read reader insert fics but I read one of her Loki ones bc she wrote it and it was so good!
8: Want any tattoos? - not sure yet! I kinda do but idk what I'd get - definitely something small tho. only problem is I'm deathly afraid of needles and also making decisions, especially permanent ones so we'll see!
8: Favourite radio station? - I don't really listen to the radio. I always hook up my own music when I'm in the car and don't really have radio anywhere else

20: Favourite video games? - literally all the Lego ones. I love them so much. also marvel Spider-Man for like play station. I have never played it but I've watched some playthroughs and stuff and the graphics ugh, so good

I did a binge of a bunch of his stuff. but I don't usually watch stuff for an actor cause I have to like the genre and topic of the movie and I don't have the patience for something that's not interesting to me just to see an actor

My main is actually an Asura! Her name is Tehqueela and she’ll probably steal your pepsi and bite your shins. 2. The first time I ever entered Lion’s Arch was during Shadow of the Mad King back in 2017 and I was hooked from then. 3. My second oldest character is a norn called King Chungus who I made before the Big Chungus meme was a thing. I made him back in 2017 and the meme surfaced in 2018 according to some sources. 4. Maddie didn’t originally start as Maddie, she was an entirely different character, but I used a style kit and a name change to change her to what she is today instead of deleting another character.
5. I started playing Gw2 back in September 2017 just as Path of Fire dropped and the first mount skins came out.

I’ve talked about this a couple times and I feel like whenever we get a message like this and some times has passed, my answer changes. Because the older I get and the more I understand my sexuality (not just the bi part but also other elements and aspects of it) the more I remember situations from my childhood that were very clear signs of queerness. Like, recently I remembered that I was friends with a girl (we were both 10 or 11) and we would play a game in which we’d “pretend to make babies”. Essentially we were humping each other under the bedsheets, taking turns in who was “the dad” and who was “the mom”. What I find most fascinating about this is that I did prefer being “the dad”, i.e. being on top lol some things never change, huh?!
So anyway... I do remember more and more situations like this which helps me colouring in the image of my sexuality (as opposed to just having the outlines of it) but the more colours I add, the harder it gets to remember where I started painting.
That’s maybe an unnecessary metaphor for saying: I currently can’t remember when I “found out” that I’m bi. I definitly didn’t ~always know~ or have the words to describe it. But it really sank in just a little while ago that if I had had the knowledge and language for it I would’ve probably identified as bi (and kinky, for that matter) much earlier than I did.
But I think the first time I cautiously used to word “bi” in reference to me was at age 13/14 though I quickly paddled back into the closet.

It annoys me to no end that I have to say this but in case we do get flagged (and worst case scenario: deleted) for daring to talk about (bi)sexuality then I’m trying to work on a backup plan. We might have to start over somewhere else eventually.
I’m in the process of creating other social media accounts as “apicturewithasmile”. If tumblr dies (or becomes unusable) then I will try to find a way to keep gettin-bi-bi-bi alive as well, somehow.

My local group of bi activists needs some cash for this year’s Pride Street Festival (Lesbisch-Schwules Stadtfest Berlin). I fear there is no option to pay via PayPal (as of yet, we’re trying to work on that) but if any of you happens to have a Visa or MasterCard and you have some spare money, you’d help us a lot!
We need the money for flyers, buttons, merchandise, etc. so that we can get the audience at the street festival to come to our booth and learn more about bisexuality.
