what is oliver like as a father? is he compassionate?

in all seriousness, he tries to a good dad. the opposite of what he had. less cold and impersonal, more caring and hands on. he would never want any of his kids to think he thought any less of them for any other reason. he’s accepting and open. he never quite loses his fun and sarcastic personality so he’s usually the fun one, but can definitely crack down when he needs to. especially when they get older he wants them to pursue whatever the wanted, to have them skip the suffering he did after joining the military in some false search of guidance he never had.

in a/b/o verses especially he tries not to put too much importance on his kids. it’s not really a choice and he gets that?? never wants them to think he thinks any less because of whatever status they are. which is kind of a metaphor in itself for sexuality.

long story short he tries to be a good dad. probably fucks up quite a bit because it’s oliver. also because it’s human nature for parents to fuck up. he’s just never going to stick his kids in boxes and force them to be things they aren’t.
