Good job, mate. I have a question for ya though: What's got ya to decide on using Kulindadromeus as your avatar?
There’s a variety of reasons, but we can narrow them down to these two:
Character Appeal: Of course there’s a lot of very appealing dinosaurs like T. rex or Triceratops, however the idea from the start was for the dinosaur to be a sort of regular Youtuber recording from a house! So we needed a small, appealing dinosaur, preferably not a super pop-culture species. Kulindadromeus is small, fluffy and cuddly! It also has that interesting contrast going on with the fluff and the scaly tail.
Scientific importance: The Liberal Dinosaur Fan is all about learning about dinosaurs in a fun way but without sacrificing the science. The name of the series itself refers to our eagerness to embrace any new scientific concensus even if it turns how we fundamentally see dinosaurs on its head! Very few discoveries represent this sudden update to our understanding of dinosaur appearance and evolution better than Kulindadromeus.
Thanks to Kulinda, we know feathers are a basal trait for dinosaurs as a whole. Its discovery meant that instead of defaulting to scales and adding feathers only to confirmed species, it was much more accurate to do the opposite! Such an important dinosaur both deserved the spotlight as well as represented some of the core objectives of our series!
