Your eyes shutter. “Fin—”

“I’m no fool, Y/N. I know you did not lie with me at that time out of any love for me. We…we were using one another. To begin with, anyway. But I did fall for you. And I’ve thought of you every day since. Holding you in my arms that night—”

“We can’t do this. It’s wrong—”

You’re cut off by his hand gently gripping your chin, his brown eyes a blazing fire. “I have done many, many wrong things in my life.” He tells you quietly. “Falling in love with you is not one of them.”

Your resolve wants to break. You tremble under his touch, lower lip wobbling, eyes blurring. “And if Rhys were to find out that his father and his close friend had been together?”

“I am Rhysand’s father. I’m High Lord of the Night Court. I’m an arrogant, insufferable bastard sometimes, and kind and charitable other times.” Leaning in, his forehead falls against yours. “But aside of all of that…I am yours. If you’ll have me. Will you have me?”

Tears spill down your cheeks as your eyes flutter shut. Hypotheticals are so, so easy. But the realities of the situation are harsh, rough. The conflict and the fallout…

But those rough hands that now cup your face…you haven’t been able to forget about them. You feel the ghost of their touch in the dead of night, dredging up the memory of them wandering to places that responded to him so well. Just the presence of him, the firmness of his body before you—

“If you ask me to leave, I will leave and say no more.” He whispers, and then repeats, “Will you have me?”

There’s only been one answer this whole time. It shudders out of you. “Yes.”

“Yes?” His face inches closer, lips brushing yours.

“Yes. I’ll have you.”

A soft noise leaves him, so at odds with the formidable High Lord and his colourful reputation. And then his lips capture yours, and his kiss rekindles a fire that never truly went out.

Finadar walks into the packed throne room with a slicing air of authority. Cunning and dominance rolls off of him in unforgiving waves.

Many faces take in the sight of their High Lord. Some are faces of people he respects. Others of courtiers he wouldn’t give a thought to if they died there and then. A few of them will die at his hands, and they don’t even know it.

But he doesn’t meet any of their gazes — not today.

His eyes find the delicious taunt that is waiting for him — you, lounging on his throne as though it’s your own.

A bold move, and one that most would not dare to make. But you’ve been pushing his buttons all week. Seeing how far you can take it. Wondering what reaction you’ll get when he hits breaking point.

You’re about to find out.

His footsteps are clipped and telling. He walks with his hands casually slid into his pockets as though he couldn’t fell this entire room with one glance. Everyone falls silent at the sound of those footfalls. Everyone watches, and waits.

Waits to see how he’ll choose to kill the silly little girl who disrespects him by watching his approach, and not even moving a muscle from his throne.

Everyone holds their breath.

The High Lord strolls over to the dais and stops before the throne.

“Everybody out.” He demands, loud enough for his voice to fill the entire city. The tone of it is taut and slicing. “Now.”

Nobody hesitates. They’re turning to move, shoving each other in their efforts to get out.

Only when the last few people are filing out of the doors do you plant your hands on the arms of the throne. Go to move.

“No. Not you.” Fin says, his eyes raking over you. “You stay exactly where you are.”

And then he sinks to his knees.

He stops short.

For a moment, you can’t tell what cuts him off. You study his face for the answer.

And then you catch the very slight twitching of his nose. His brow furrows.

“You smell…different.” He says.

It is such a gargantuan effort to stop yourself from stiffening under his touch. To keep your expression mild, unperturbed.

“I don’t know what it is.” He sniffs again. “Familiar, but also…not.”

You swallow. Hard. “I used a different soap when I bathed before bed. I didn’t like the smell of it, so I threw it out.”

He leans in closer, and you stand still as his nose bumps the skin of your neck. He inhales deeply, slowly.

“…Cedar?” He guesses. “Cedar and…something else.”

I actually did compile a folder of pictures of how I envision them, because obviously they’re much younger and I wanted to capture that. Some of them, I don’t have a clue who the face claim actually is, others I do, but this is what I’ve referred to through POM. I’ll put it under a cut because I know some people might have their own visions of what they look like and I don’t want to encroach on that 🥰

Every day I fight against the urge to make a visual novel version of PoM. Because of many reasons, not only including Copyright (since I'd of course do it for free), but also, it's just not really made right for VN or even kinetic novel. Yet.

I do wonder though, are there any KH fangames hiding out there in the abyss? I made one that I never released, of course, once upon a time, but the art is awful.

Not saying it will/would ever happen. I should be working on Skycities. Not writing fanfics out the wazoo that I haven't had the guts to post any of yet because it's PoM stuff.

Hello, it's Blog Owner here, and I have actual things and stuff. I'm thinking about actually editing and publishing the like (checks word counts) total of 70k ish words I've written for alternate timelines within the series when I get things wrapped up together nicely. I just gotta get back to one story in particular so that the rest of the stuff makes sense.

But I do not write in this series when I am mentally well. I have not left my computer except to feed my folks and get my own food and take care of some bodily needs such as occasional sleep for the past week. I meant to be working on my game, but...yeah. Not so much.

So, I don't know when the story that kind of bridges things will be written to its full potential, even though I intend to keep it short compared to much of the series. Because my brain went from one timeline that was different and said 'okay, now that exists, let's write one that also exists' before I had a chance to explain the first! I mean, this one is separate, so it doesn't really matter if I publish it first I guess...

I could just finish the story summary that I started up that explains how everything is connected and then go for it...

Basically...yeah. When my mental health falls apart, so does the PoM universe.

I'm gonna try to sleep. Hopefully it works. So...maybe you'll get to meet Aki and her story, and also Takehiko and his story, two separate loops of the timeloop.

If I'm not to shy to go back to posting stuff...
