Get To Know My Character

Quelios is a very light sleeper, trained to fine awareness as he was as a Farstrider in his youth. It's an unconscious awareness that has never left him. Even strange smells can stir him from sleep too easily. He isn't one to talk in his sleep unless he's having a particularly eventful dream, which is a rarity.

The man is a fan of the hermit lifestyle, amusingly. Lio prefers sleeping outdoors, away from the irritation of people and closed walls. He likes the messiness of pelts and throws in a quickly erected tent, and lying snug and close to the ground. But if he is sequestered to a room by a more traditional lover, he'll have them on every single other piece of furniture and end up on the floor rather than soil a perfectly good bed.

Favola, his favored lynx companion, is known to prefer a bed over the floor. Quelios fully allows this for the spoiled matriarch.

48. Quelios has felt some jealousy toward his sister, who has always been treated with more importance than himself among their family. A fairly large age difference with his sibling did not bring them closer when she was a child, and he'd often avoid celebrations and milestones and even her birthdays, feeling she was coddled enough by everyone. As Serenas grew older however, the jealousy somewhat turned to pity, though he is still fairly passive aggressive about the Dawnsinger's placement of his sister on a pedestal. Still, he ultimately cares for his sister beneath the caustic commentary - she has been the only one in his life that has been unflinchingly kind and patient with him.

Quelios definitely measures what he says in front of the family council and in the general city, though there is always a little passive aggression in his tone even at his most formal -- he almost parodies formality for strangers. His true people are the Farstriders and those he has fought alongside with among the Sunreavers, so he tends to feel a more genuine camraderie among them. He also tends to be more 'real' with people that seem more down to earth to him, and more attentive and patient with animals that are put into his care.

A dry laugh rose up silently through Quelios like a cloud. It ended in a hard smile, trying to smother the sneer that naturally wanted to formulate at the legacy his own parents left him behind to. "You want to know what the 'favorite' son was taught by his forebears, do you? That's quite easy to answer: don't be foolish enough to contribute to the population. Quel'thalas might even offer a fancy stipend to pop out a baby or two, but someone always ends up being a disappointment in the crown jewel that is Silvermoon."

Crouching low, the hunter curled his fingers into the furry crown of the giant lynx near him, scratching behind her ears. "Besides! Other companions could be a far better investment. Typically the ones that walk on 4 legs. Or fly."

44. Is there a particular event that would emotionally devastate your character?

As far as Quelios thinks he has already suffered various forms of emotional devastation relating to loss. As much as he might seem to dig at his little sister, her absence does breed worry somewhere behind his sarcasm. She is the last person in his life he feels actually cares about him at all, the last really 'good' soul he knows, someone that sees some worth in him. If young Serra were to meet an early grave, Lio would definitely be changed for the worse.

45. Is your character the kind to hide their true emotions or do they wear their heart on their sleeve?

Not hiding their true emotions exactly, but straining them through humor or deflecting? Yes. He is a very animated character and one to be forthcoming about his thoughts or feelings, but everything for Quelios has its time and place.

14. Do they live alone or with family? How do they feel about their family/roommate

Despite having his own room at the Dawnsinger estate in Silvermoon, Quelios rarely uses it or stays very long within those halls, his connection to remaining family gradually deteriorating after finding recognition among the Sunreavers. He'll attend council meetings by the core of High Singers or Magisters if they call upon him, but Lio will spend their gold on a room at a local Inn or brothel rather than sleep in his own room, just to spite them. His sister Serenas was perhaps the only family that could placate him, though he tended to treat the House servants and staff with more camraderie and generosity too.

Quelios definitely considers key people at the Farstrider camp more of a family than blood, and he has always preferred sleeping with the night's sounds not too far from him, in a tent (a very luxurious tent). Enclosed spaces and buildings tend to make him a little anxious -- people are gathered, targeted and murdered in the silence of a room much easier than the open wild, in his mind.

Is there something traumatic from your character’s past that greatly affects them even to this day?

Quelios witnessed his father's death during the Third War and was old enough to internalize it, unlike his sister, so like many that would become Blood Elves, he was traumatized by the consumption of the Scourge and the staining of their lands alongside the horrific loss of the people of Quel'thalas. His father was his greatest hero in his life, so Quelios is constantly trying to be the son he would have been proud of, even taking up the mantle of the Farstrider and taking his loyal Elder Dragonhawk Phaedra as his own. Despite this, he is never acknowledged by the House that bore him beyond being a foothold to other success, and it has left him with a strong thread of self-loathing beneath the passive aggression. He will never be the man his father was in their eyes, no matter how he tries.

What is their worst fear?

Quelios would not be the sort to speak of his fears very openly, especially one as sensitive as this, but the worst fear he can think of is actually fathering a child and bringing them into the hell of a world he lives in, and leaving them the legacy of what he feels is terrible parentage. As a surviving son of loss and abandoment, not to mention the obsession of House Dawnsinger, he feels he would be perpetuating a cycle he just doesn't want to contribute to. And so he takes almost obsessive precaution with proper tinctures, assuring that he will never make that mistake, until it is a fear he would be willing to try and conquer.
