I believe the Shidge fandom has gotten harassment over this before. One post was something along the lines of “Look how far the heteros will reach.” I have witnessed this across multiple platforms, fandoms, and time that a hetero-presenting relationship must be bad or unhealthy. Even then people go above and beyond to demonize hetero presenting relationships.

I haven’t even touched base on the pan/bi/ace/demi erasure that is prevalent not only in fandom but in LGBT+ spaces as well. I have been told before that I don’t belong in such space because I “chickened out and dated a man.” It’s extremely hurtful.

All ships should be welcome. Regardless of representation. We need healthy presenting relationships in all forms. Gay, straight, bi, etc. Ship and let ship. Enjoy what you like. Don’t harass others for liking what they like.

Tbh I'm glad I stumbled upon this blog bc I love all shaladin ships but felt terrible for liking shi//dge?? I mean I low key like it but my OCD has made it horrible for me bc of how the fandom sees it as P and my OCD was caused by this fandom bc of all that bullshit and I just??? Gosh I just want to feel clean and good about liking all of the ships?? I'm scared of being destroyed by antis?? I literally almost killed myself 3 times bc of this it's just so freaking ridiculous.

You shouldn’t feel scared or upset to ship Shidge. You are more than welcome to not ship it as well. But I will say, don’t let others get to you about it. The ages are considered a safe zone, not an actual, concrete age. Any ship with Shiro is extremely pure and sweet. The man is a blessing for shippers everywhere with how sweet he is.

The best thing you can do is block them before they can block or see you. It’s heavily cleaned up my main blog and a side art blog. I get hate, straight into the block list it goes. They’re bullies and we can’t let bullies win. I’m rooting for you, Anon. OCD is not easy to handle. I got it myself. But we can win this okay?

I don't see why people find Shidge problematic??? Like as long they're both over a legal age. People seem to stop questioning things like that once they're older. For example my dad is older than my mom by 8 years. And to expand on even that, my dad's boyfriend (my parents are now divorved) is legitimately half his age. And no one seems to be bothered by it. Idk people are just weird.

I believe one of the most hilarious conversations with an anti (by conversations I mean a few asks) was that time doesn’t move in canon (aka the cartoon) unless explicitly stated. I was shaking my head so hard at that. I have a base understanding of astrophysics and quantum physics (yay for nerdy hobbies) and I told them that according to the laws of physics, time does move forward and that maybe in some areas of space there is time fluctuations but they’re a a tiny percentage of a second. They told me I had no idea what I was talking about.

There is a concept called confirmation bias. And they follow that closely. They drown out anything logical if it goes against their world view.

As for your parents, it’s like same but for other relatives. Or even myself with my husband being 5 years older than me. The most problematic thing he has ever done? Woken me up with how nasty smelling his farts are.
