I know I haven’t spoken about Shiro/Adam thus far yet, and I’ve done so for a few reasons. One, we don’t have the full story yet aside from the few clips of s7e1, and two, I was curious to see how others were interpreting the situation and if I had possibly misread it.

Now that most of the original hype has kind of died down, and all sides have stated their case I figure it’s about time I share my own stance. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions and see the relationship how they want, and this is mine. Under a cut for those that wish to avoid both the content and spoilers.

When I first watched the clip, Adam saying that he wouldn’t be there for Shiro when he returned from Kerberos, I immediately took it as manipulative, in regards to my own experiences. Many others have stated why they see it that way, and I agree with them. Others have stated that people seeing it as manipulative only see it this way because they themselves have been in a manipulative relationship before, which, coincidentally, I have, specifically with my mother. Personally, I don’t know that I can, canonly, see it as anything aside from manipulative.

That being said, I don’t think their entire relationship was. LM said herself that before this, Shiro and Adam had a very loving and beautiful relationship, and that they were on their way to an engagement/marriage. That’s exciting, and I’m so glad Shiro had someone there to support him through everything he was going through and who loved him.

On the other side of things, I do know that relationships don’t always work. As many others have stated, sometimes some part of the relationship or the other person just becomes too much, and it has to end. I’ve seen it first hand in my family and with some of my friends’ relationships. I get it, I do. And it’s okay to be selfish and remove yourself from a relationship if it becomes to much. You don’t always have to put others before yourself.

Because we haven’t seen anything else from Adam yet, I will maintain my stance of the phrase being manipulative, regardless of how supportive the rest of the relationship was. This could change once I see s7, but as of right now this isn’t going to change.

TL;DR:  I want to make it clear that I fully, 100% am okay with the Shadam/Adashi ship Pre-Kerberos. Post-Kerberos, however, I cannot see their relationship continuing esp bc LM said they won’t be getting back together anyway. If this offends anyone or makes anyone upset, I’m sorry. You’re free to unfollow if it hurts you that much; I won’t be offended.
