will you be bummed if sid doesn't hit 100 this season in should he play all 82 games? i would have loved him to be only the 6th player in NHL history to hit 100 pts at 35+ but if not, he's still the first to accomplish a 30-goal season at 18 and 35

I mean, a 100 point season would be nice but I wouldn’t be particularly upset if he doesn’t - his elite status is hardly in doubt after all, whether or not he collects that particular milestone.

that said, I would never put it past him to put up 15 points in 8 games simply out of spite if people say he won’t manage it, or if there’s some kind of “sid’s weird numerology magic” achievement that would be unlocked by it. or it’s entirely possible he’s decided he wants to do it when he’s 36 instead for some freakish reason that makes perfect sense to him

currently listening to the canes/redwings game and pretty sure they just said sid & jordy used to have a ritual involving jordy spitting on sid’s stick after he did it by accident once and sid scored a hatty 🙃

way gross, but wonder if that contributes to why sid is so fussy about people not going near his stick lol

ahhhhh I’d forgotten about that anon!

I feel like when it comes to the guys that have been in the room a long time sully has a tendency to generally go with nicknames, whereas maybe when guys are newer that comfort level with the nicknames hasn’t quite been reached - tanev has been tans or tanny a lot more this season and there’s been a lot less of brandon, for example.

when it comes to sid, however, you can easily see that there would always be specific intent behind what he uses - he doesn’t really do anything without thinking. imagine having sid call you constantly by your nickname for weeks then out comes your full-on given name... you’d be like ‘uh oh, this one is gonna be a serious chat’ lol
