I absolutely love the story, at this point I’ve probably played it more times than I can count! I wanted to ask you about a nuance in X’s high-romance route, specifically regarding past lovers. Is it fair to assume that what X feels for the Crown is something entirely new, despite their long list of exes?
X may seem to be the quickest to cross the physical line, but emotionally it feels like a very different journey, one that requires a great deal of time, patience, and trust before we’re allowed to truly see who X is beneath the surface.
I’m also really curious about how the MC will be able to navigate the moment of “truth,” and how a refusal or inability to forgive might shape the relationship if we get to a point where X starts to care more deeply (allowing us to see that side of the character). Tysm! xoxo
Absolutely fair to say! It's because X's relationship to the Crown is very complicated in unique ways due to the power dynamics and X's specific background.
X's past lovers, for one, have mostly been people with relatively normal lives, or perhaps even very privileged ones (like the prince/princess from Qathesh that is mentioned). X has been attracted to those kinds of people because it lends them a sense of normalcy too/helps them to ignore their own issues.
The Crown is very different in that respect. They've lived as a fugitive for most of their life, lost their only family, and was thrust into a role of immense power but with great danger to them as well. They're someone who carries their own considerable burdens of leadership, and who can relate to X in that way.
They are also the first among X's previous relationships where X has talked to them about what happened to their village. With previous lovers, X has never mentioned this before, as those relationships tended to be more shallow, more of a performance.
With the MC (specifically on a high/steady romance route!!!) their bond is becoming deeper than that. And that scares the shit out of X, which is why they sometimes may be making impulsive and unwise decisions as a result 🙈
