Lucas didn’t have a traditional upbringing. In fact, his life was anything but the easy life. His dad left about the time he turned ten. No household was really a one person income home, even back then and so, his mother was forced to bite off more than she could chew. In order to support him, and herself of course, she worked at a twenty four hour diner and more times than not, that’s where you could find her. That was, until she could hardly stay awake and she eventually had to go home to take care of herself for a little while. While both Lucas and his older brother, Lincoln, knew that his mom was doing everything that he possibly could in order to care for him but even so, she was never there and he was ultimately raising himself unless his brother stopped by to make sure that he was fed.
Eventually, his brother decided to take custody of him and it’s not like it was any easier for Lincoln to care for him than it was for his mom but the difference between Lincoln and their mom is that he was there for Lucas and their mom wasn’t. Of course, she didn’t want to give up custody and even fought it at first but she knew at the end of the day, it was better for him to be with his brother rather than working herself to death and allowing Lucas to basically raise himself.
Lucas’ life changed when he moved in with his brother. That sense of loneliness that he once had was no longer there and he spent time with his brother, appreciating everything that Lincoln did for him, especially because he definitely realized that they were struggling too once he was older but Lincoln did everything that he could for him and that didn’t go unnoticed by any means.
Once he turned eighteen, he moved out to LA and went to film school. He always had the dream of being in Hollywood but never as an actor. He always wanted to be behind the scenes, and that’s actually how he spent the majority of his high school career. He spent a lot of time doing things backstage for the theater department and once he made it to film school, he had decided that writing was the direction that he wanted to go. Of course, he knew that it was hard to get his foot in the door but regardless of that, he did whatever he could to get to where he wanted.
Luckily for him, he seemed to impress one of his professors with his drive and they managed to get him in as cowriter in a show back in Atlanta, which was close to where he lived and well, he had to admit, he missed Lincoln more than he could ever admit out loud. Moving back home was exactly what he needed and he moved into a duplex right next to Lincoln in Magnolia Springs while regularly commuting to Atlanta.
