things that I am doing whilst getting over surgical shock
If given the chance, would Cauthrien change the events of Ostagar? Does Cauthrien have a favored metal for armor? What are her thoughts on the Grey Wardens in general? What does she think of the Chevalier's fighting styles?
If given the chance, would Cauthrien change the events of Ostagar?
“If given the chance, I would knock out the King, claim he ordered me in charge of his forces and then march the whole Army back to Denerim. Damn the consequences later. I’d have gladly faced execution or exile for that battle to never have happened. But if you are asking me to rebel against Loghain’s choice, no. It was the right decision. I have never regretted that.”
Like seriously Cauthrien has thought a lot about how she should have been more reckless, followed her instincts better. She’s never been one to blindly follow orders but at the time somehow it seemed very impossible. Hindsight makes everything look easy, but she blames herself for not taking more drastic action. Once the Army was away from the field and any thought of returning was gone, she’d have gladly given herself up and confessed to all crimes.
Does Cauthrien have a favored metal for armor?
“I rarely get the luxury of choice, but if I did then Stormheart would be my preference. It isn’t light, but that doesn’t trouble me and its durablity makes it ideal for chainmail. It also has a darker colour that makes it less noticeable which is why I find Silverite aggravating at times. If I were leading large forces then Silverite would be my choice but in the field, Stormheart serves me better.”
What are her thoughts on the Grey Wardens in general?
“I’ll never deny Wardens their necessity, and likely I’d agree with most of their decisions. But I would not rely on them, nor trust them with anything other than killing darkspawn, and even then I would be wary. They have one function and it comes above everything else, which makes them more dangerous than the worst enemy. I should know, we have a lot in common.”
Cauthrien voice: Wardens are shady as fuck and I should know cus I’m also shady as fuck
What does she think of the Chevalier’s fighting styles?
“Thorough. I was on the receiving end of a boasting Chevalier once. He described their training regimen and forms in quite some detail. I employ some similar techniques in battle and out, the stretches to identify overlooked injuries in particular. But they are far too precious about it. Every technique has a name, a class, an order. The only thing differentiating one Chevalier from another is skill. Their exclusivity to the nobility weakens them even further. The first man I killed was a Chevalier, I’d been running from Chevaliers my whole childhood. Once you know how to kill one, all their forms and honour won’t save them.”
