Bringing you the casual reminder that Kaeya was 16 when Crepus died. 16. He wasn't even an adult yet. Neither Diluc nor Kaeya was to blame for the subsequent horror of that day or night; it was a terrible day, in which terrible decisions were made and terrible actions were taken.
But Kaeya was 16 years old, and consumed by guilt. He wasn't even an adult.
Kaeya is very much a I need words individual; but he is also a when I am crying, just-... I need a hug, man, and I love him for the dichotomy. I think physical affection is a deep part of his preferred way to be loved, platonically, romantically, & familially, but physical touch is vulnerable, risky, and intimate and he's fallen out of trust with accepting it (even if he tends to offer it as a way of loving others).

I will have you all know, the more Kaeya insists he's perfect or pretty, the more he is thinking the opposite internally. Call his bluff and he'll spook and either be in a emotionally vulnerable place or he'll double down on the deflecting.
