Matt sat in his makeshift bed with his legs dangled over the side. He head was tilted to the side as he listened to everyone move around the cave.
There were a lot of people here and he knew the quickest way to deal with his sensory overload was to become familiar with the area. He’d done a lot of exploring and he had met several people, but he knew he’d have to balance that with resting, even if sleep was a new enemy.
He had to get used to the voices as well.
“You really think you can help these people?” he heard Stick ask, “You’re a mess, Mattie. You can’t even help yourself.”
“You said that about the four of us. That we couldn’t even save ourselves so how could we do more.”
“Yeah, how did that end for you again? For me?”
“Even when you’re dead you’re a dick.”
“You expected something different?”
Matt was pulled out of his conversation but the sudden realization that someone had entered the room that wasn’t normal medical staff. He focused on them for a moment and after realizing that they weren’t there because they desperately needed medical attention, he quieted himself and waited to see if they needed help finding something or if they were simply passing through the area.
