Protests Begin Against Shariah Law in Florida
The Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton Florida was the scene of a protest on Sunday morning. But it wasn’t your average anti-Islamic protest- it was specifically aimed at Shariah Law in America.
Four people, three men and a woman, stood outside the mosque with placards and signs asking Muslims to support the Constitution, not Shariah Law.
For religious freedom, against Shariah
The protesters, members of Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children, are for religious freedom in America – but they say that Shariah Law contradicts the rights of the United States Constitution. They are hoping that the members of mosques across the country would be willing to denounce the laws of Shariah.
Today’s demonstration is the first of what they hope will be a movement that grows.
“There were four of us, we were pushing the Constitution and no Shariah, one lady stopped, took some pictures and called the female protester a ‘bitch’…she was parked in the middle of the road as well…The police stopped and asked us what we were doing, we told him we had a ‘peaceful assembly’ and he left.” Michael, one of the protesters.
Michael, Matt, and their friends are asking for all who are concerned about the Shariah issue in America to join them in protesting at mosques across the country. Make your voices heard!
Shariah and Democracy cannot coexist
Abu Imran, a radical Islamic cleric in Belgium, has asserted that “any Muslim who is against Sharia isn’t a real Muslim.” Is that true? The protesters are asking that very question. Is there any such thing as a moderate Muslim who defends the Constitution rather than Shariah? That would make them welcome in America where we are supposed to have religious freedom.
Anyone who claims to be a moderate Muslim should be happy to support the Constitution over the rigidity of Shariah. It is a political system that hates homosexuals, treats women as property, demands that temper tantrums erupt over any perceived slight, denies rights to even the most minor of criminals. It is a system based upon harsh punishment. American courts are based upon judgment and the individual – a set of laws that are designed to force the prosecution to prove guilt. Shariah is the opposite. Democracy and Shariah are mutually exclusive.
