Mitsuba’d gotten used to seeing all sorts of weird things here in the month he’d been in the city. A month was a long time, and there were all sorts of freaks in the city, and really he’d -- kinda gotten used to it. Sure, you never really got over having someone swinging a scythe in your face, but you could get... used to it. (That was, uh, sad.)
Anyway!
He was still instinctively drawn to mirrors. Which, y’know? Might have put him in the ‘freak’ class of the city’s inhabitants, but like, at least he was cute. So that was saying a lot more than at least... umm... most of the island!
--he was looking in a rather reflective storefront window right now, was what he was trying to say. As if he’d be able to garner anything from it, figure out something more about the island and if he was really going to be allowed to stay here, to live here as... as a normal human. But this wasn’t his boundary, and he didn’t know if he’d ever be able to learn anything from the mirrors and windows.
Mitsuba let his arm fall back down to his side and turned away from the window. He’d been so caught up in his own thoughts that he hadn’t noticed a boy stop to stare at him, and Mitsuba froze up.
“--what are you staring at?”
“Mind your own business!” Wait now. Hold on. Was that-- “--you’ve got a toy rabbit at your age, you’ve got no right to look at me like I’m the weirdo!”
