This is a perfectly fine, unremarkable “What is SailGP?” article, and the author’s point that multihulls, at least in the US, have long been thought of as “lesser than” monohulls is valid. But the “outcasts of the yacht club” headline language and leading with photos from 2012 make it feel remarkably similar to the wave of initial AC 34 articles in Wired from 2010-12 (if you can find one that hasn’t been blanked), and after the intervening decade and a half, it’s not hard to feel like the “Larry Ellison, heroic democratizing rebel!” rhetoric has gone a bit sour.
