I really want to buy a fountain pen (an affordable one, I’m not Henry Winter lol) but don’t really know where to start/if I’d actually like it.

Do you have to write very differently with them? Is it difficult? What models are good and where should I look for them?

🏰 what's a medieval or ancient site you'd love to visit in your lifetime?

I'm really lucky to live somewhere with quite a lot of accessible historical sites, as well as being able to travel to visit a bunch, so I've seen a lot of my favourites already! The Forum in Rome was absolutely wonderful, and I'd love to go again, but I'd really love to see the Acropolis of Athens in person someday

📜 what time period in history do you find the most fascinating or would like to study the most?

I've always been super interested in the late medieval/emerging early modern period of British history - (think the Wars of the Roses, Tudor dynasty). That's certainly the period that I was first drawn to as a kid, and it holds a really special place in my heart as a sort of gateway to the stuff I write about now. I think a lot of my studies are more based on theme than time period (I write a lot of women's history, supernatural/religious history etc.), but I definitely do tend to stick to the earlier half of the early modern period, as modern history doesn't interest me as much.

🎓 share a study tip that works really well for you, even if it's unconventional!

One thing I've found useful when studying is to separate the work you want to do by how much you want to get done instead of how much time you want to spend doing it. As someone with ADHD, studying within a set time frame can become a problem, as I can get easily distracted and end up not doing as much as I need to. Setting myself reasonable goals for how much work I want to do in one sitting rather than how long I want to do it for (e.g. 'read fifteen pages' instead of 'read for half an hour') tends to be a much better way of making sure stuff actually gets done

I'm an autumn girlie for life. I overheat really easily so I love when it starts getting colder, and when the leaves start turning it's so beautiful. (plus I'm an October baby so I always associate autumn with my birthday)

Impressionist movement my LOVEEEEEE!!!! all my favourite artists are from during or just outside the impressionist movement (shoutout Van Gogh and J.M.W. Turner btw) but Claude Monet is my absolute faveeeeeeee go king!!! here's a few of my favourite paintings by him bc that's my dude fr!!

(My best friend is getting her art history degree atm and she's trying to get me into the niche picks but no one can replace Monet in my heart <3)

👻 if you could have dinner with any now-dead person, who would it be?

devastated I'll never get to bitch about Henry VIII with Catharine of Aragon and/or Mary Tudor. complaining about that man is one of my main hobbies and they just get it!!!!

I really like Botticelli. “The Birth of Venus” is ✨I also love anything by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Pre-Raphaelite artworks are just gorgeous.

👨🏼‍🎨 who is your favorite artist in art history? do you have a favorite artwork by this artist?

I really like Walter Launt Palmer's work. The way that he paints open snowy landscapes is so calming and relaxing. I think it's the wintery scenes and the sun glinting off the snow that he paints. Really does it for me.

📜 what time period in history do you find the most fascinating or would like to study the most?

1940 - 1970 sooo i guess late mid-20th century?? idk that basically takes care of WWII thru the Space Race..

📃 if you could write a paper or thesis on any obscure topic you're obsessed with as a personal project, what would it be?

My masters thesis will actually be on international cooperation in u.s. space policy sooo i'd say that pretty much incapsulates my interests lol

😒 what is the required reading work you had to do in school or university that you absolutely HATED?

lmaooo that time during the 2015 presidential campaigning where we had to analyze candidate speeches and everything that came out of trump's mouth was either a straw-man fallacy/red herring/ or just fucking fucked UP

I like studying music on, but that's just me, like it's really motivating for me, but ik not everyone wants noise in the background so i get that.
