It sucks that you can easily make an ADHD brain want to do something by turning it into a game. Why? Because the game is only fun if there are stakes. Personal challenge only gets you so far. What if you’re trying something harder like drinking more water, proof reading essays or doing laundry.
Well I lucky for you I have an idea of how to help with the proof reading.
Introducing: AcademiADHD. The game where you earn points by proofreading.
How does it work?
When you don’t want to read through an essay, an email, a document or some other writing but also want to make sure it makes sense, bring up a notepad on the side and take a tally of every correction you make. The more difficult or impactful the correction, the more points you earn.
Then you reblog this or reply to it or send me a message or whatever… and tell me your total points and how many words you had to read through. Then I’ll update the score board below to show the current standing for Best Proofreader.
Points are allocated as such:
Correct a grammar mistake — 1 point
Correct a spelling mistake — 1 point
Reword a sentence to be more concise — 3 points
Remove a redundant sentence — 3 points
Strengthen an argument or point — 5 points
Site a source you forgot to credit— 3 points
Bring it closer to the word count — 8 points
