Seems that Natsuo Kirino's works focus on female leads and their ties to crime, contrasting with Murakami's wider style. But if you're interested in crime/mystery-thrillers I also recommend Fuminori Nakamura's books too, like Evil and The Mask ^^

Ahh sorry this is sudden but I saw your post on Bungou Stray Dogs! I'm really hyped about the anime. The manga is still ongoing (updates monthly) and I recommend reading it first, basically all the characters are named after famous authors, even western ones and their powers are named after the respective author's works, etc. The art is nice, and there's a good balance to the story somewhat I think. Perhaps you'd like it :D

Regarding Pinto, it's a Japanese word of Dutch origin (punt) meaning 'focus'. Sometimes you see it used like 'pinto dekinai', as in '(I) can't focus'. I guess it refers to a camera focus somehow? Seeing as how they concluded the OVA with Chie taking a picture of Shuu, with the sound of the camera transitioning into the title at the end, I feel like it fits really well :D

Omg :’DD Actually that headcanon might actually turn out to be ... Canon? It makes a lot of sense somehow :o I’d like to think that Hide dyes his hair in that colour and is naturally brown/black, plus it feels like he's into foreign trends with the way he dresses and the music he probably listens to. 2.I will be a tiny tiny tiny bit disappointed :’) if the Washuu theory doesn’t become canon. I want his mum to be British and his dad needs to be Yoshitoki. THIS OMAKE with Yoshitoki and Matsuri….I will laugh so much if Hide turns out to be Matsuri’s half brother (This headcanon makes me die already)

About 英 as a radical iteself, it does in fact has the meanings 'British' and 'hero', even 'brave', or is sometimes used to exclusively mean 'English' (英語/eigo).
