I still can see only your smile,

Raw and beautiful,

Perfection at its finest,

It is the unconditional love that comes with it,

When you smiled like that, 

My heart had melted away,

You had me in the palm of your hands,

Without you even knowing it,

I knew I had a diamond in the rough,

I had to treasure this diamond forever,

But I lost sight of that beautiful smile,

I can only remember it now that you’re gone,

You are no longer apart of me as you once were,

You are just a distant memory,

Happy and sad,

Contradiction,

Knowing the paths we took,

I cannot intervene with your smile,

Because if you would smile like that again,

It should not be with me,

For I had my chance at love with you,

Now I have to set you free,

So that another can experience your love and touch,

Perhaps freedom can only finally be achieved by that simple yet heroic act of granting yourself permission to be who and what you are, regardless of the who or what anyone including you may believe you need to be.

There are a lot of things to give up on in life, but friendship is not one of them. Never, should we ever, give up on our friends. I have friends who have hurt me, but I stand by their side, and I will be there when they need me. That doesn't mean I'm letting people take advantage of me, and it doesn't mean I'm being a doormat. It just means that I'm a strong person, and I know people make mistakes. I'm willing to forgive you for the times you have hurt me. Just promise me one thing. Promise me that you won't give up on me either. Promise me that, not matter what happens, you will always be my friend.

The best thing that has helped me be more body positive.

Is to stop acting as if the part of me I dislike doesn't exist. It's so easy to pretend that parts of us don't exist by ignoring them, cutting them out of photos, looking at yourself from different angles. Recognising that you are more than just the 'good parts' of your body but normalising yourself with the 'bad parts' of your body is one of the best things that will help you feel better in your own skin.
