She is expecting some kind of spell like is over Mayte where you can’t get in or even discover it unless someone inside lets you, but she can still see the castle so it can’t be exactly that. She waits until it’s so late nobody’s going to be near unless there’s around the clock surveillance on the castle, which is always a chance, but she doesn’t know what else to do. She needs to talk to them. She also doesn’t know how she’s going to get in. It’s doubtful she can just walk up to the gate and open it, though maybe there’s blood magic so a Mayte could get in on their own. Lawrence did say the school belonged to the Mayte. It sounds like a stretch when laid out, but she doesn’t get around to discussing it with anyone or even thinking about it too hard herself before it becomes a plan in action. Get to the castle and put both hands on the gate, palms flat, waiting for it to accept her.
