2: their smile

Evie’s smile used to be just perfect before extenuating circumstances led to her face getting caved in. Now her front teeth are sort of crooked and many of them are fake, but she still smiles like the sun coming out from behind the clouds.

Surprised, more than anything, and then she acts like it was her own silly fault and laughs it off.

23: how they act when they're sick

Evie hates being sick, and tends to play it up for the sympathy card. She sleeps a lot when she’s even got the slightest sniffle, and uses it as an excuse not to do things.

1: their voice

(aside from the obvious they-can-sound-like-whatever) Max’s ordinary voice is kind of... flat? She doesn’t have a really expressive voice unless she’s been accused of something and then she gets over-the-top with it. Not a lot of middle ground with her. Musically, she can hold a tune better than most of her friends, but she’d never make it professionally.

12: their romantic life

rip in pesto u tried ur bestoAside from hookups and party kissing, Max’s romantic life is like 90% internal, fantasies and daydreams about saying lovey-dovey things that she just keeps to herself in the end. She gets a crush at the drop of a hat but hardly ever acts on it unless she’s drunk and/or at a party. She has a habit of making it weird eventually.

14: how they react to burning their tongue on food

Max loves food, and when she burns her tongue on it she feels this sense of utter, shocking betrayal. She’s also a wimp with no pain tolerance. When she burns her tongue she just looks so upset and hurt, and sticks her tongue out and talks with it out of her mouth until it doesn’t hurt anymore. What a baby.

18: how they sleep

Max can fall asleep anywhere, really, in any wacky position. She might fall asleep in a chair leaning against a bookshelf, or butt-up on her friend’s bed, or curled into a really tight ball between two pieces of furniture. It’s a party trick.

6: how they deal with grief

Vale deals with grief quietly and internally. He doesn’t talk about it, but he doesn’t talk about anything. He tries to understand what happened, and why, and how it all fits into the plan the spirits have set out for him. He sort of detaches from the whole thing, bottling it up and refusing to let it affect him until it all comes out in an angry, violent outburst.

13: their embarrassing memory from years ago

hahaVale had the hots for a girl in the healer’s tent one autumn and would let himself get injured doing something dangerous so he’d have an excuse to visit. One time, he fell out of a tree and landed wrong, breaking a leg so badly he couldn’t get back to camp until it had healed a little - healed wrong. His crush ended up having to rebreak it to set it right. That sort of killed the mood between them.

19: their reaction to betrayal

Vale does not tolerate betrayal at all. Whenever possible, he’ll retaliate immediately and violently. Even if he can be convinced it was an accident, you’re unlikely to gain his trust back fully.

22: what they're like on two hours of sleep

Without enough sleep, Vale gets restless, irritable and snappy. Every little thing irks him, and he’ll break things if they’re annoying him too much. It ain’t cute.
