i read SoC bc u kept talking about it, they broke me, so i decided to read the raven cycle and ?? i read the first 2 in THREE DAYS and now i’m waiting to go to the library to collect the next 2 so i guess i’ll check back in on sunday probably more broken ????

If it makes you feel any better, from the ages of 8-12 I wanted to be an architect, but I realised the amount of maths involved and straight up dropped it. Now I'm studying photography 😅

(for the thought I mean, I’m not saying I’m happy that you had to give up a dream hahaha) And yeah, it was a bummer, but I suppose I can still dig for stuff if I really wanted to! People’s backyards etc…And you can build things! :D Even better, you can build stuff and take pictures of it! You just smash those two babies together, perfect! Life might not turn out exactly as how you planned it, but I believe there’s room for all your interests and passions somehow! :DD

I'm not an international, so I can't fully relate, but I believe in u and hope it goes well! if you're nervous, message like one person u feel comfortable around and confirm some details? like 'oh hey I'm not sure wht time we're meeting?' or 'hey I'm not sure where this is, can I travel there with u?' and build a conversation from that? i've found it kinda helpful at uni :) good luck!

yeah you’re right, but the main problem is that i know all of these people a little bit, and i also know that (some of) the other internationals are just so extremely extraverted. 

and that’s amazing, because they’re easy to talk to one on one. but it’s also hard, because when it’s 3+ people in a conversation, i tend to get more quiet if other people talk more. and especially with some of these people in my seminar group, i just really want to talk to them and not only sit & listen for a change.

i suppose i’ll just show up early though, it usually helps if i’m talking to someone when the others come in, instead of coming in when the others are already talking

I changed my name when I was sixteen to my mothers name, and it's the best decision I ever made. I had an awful relationship with my father (when I was still in contact with him, thankfully I haven't been for years) and it's honestly refreshing to have a name that feels right tbh. if you do decide on a new surname Id really recommend changing it!!

It’s kind of gross how our last names are always expected to be given to us by a dude in heteronormative society. Like, you are the product of your father so you carry his name temporarily until some man claims you and you take his. I used to like my birth name but my relationship with my father is . . . strained now. 

I should just make up some magical girl last name.

hey! I need to buy a DSLR for university, preferably a Canon or Nikon, but I have a very small budget (£400-500). I was wondering if you have any recommendations or know of good comparison site, thanks :)

You’re using pounds so I’ll assume you’re in the UK, like myself. I get all my gear used from MPBPhotographic just because it’s a little cheaper second hand. They’re the cheapest I’ve found but feel free to shop around.

Your budget isn’t too small, I’m gonna talk Used Canon gear, because that’s the brand I know and there’s a Nikon equivalent for pretty much all their stuff.

Okay, so for that price you could actually get a 600D and a 50mm 1.4. The 600D has a flippy rotating screen which can be handy for a lot of things but if you feel you don’t need that, get a 500D and then you’ll have an extra £100 for lenses.

So, right now I’m seeing this;

500D: £150

600D: £250

That leaves you with £350-£450 to play around with lenses, of course you could always buy a cheap versatile zoom but I’d recommend getting something better like the 50mm f1.4 for £200. Or you could get the non-is 35mm f2 for about £170, then you’ll be getting a little more image quality for your bucks.
