3/7/22 Patch Includes Steam/SE Account Linking

IF YOU PURCHASE / PLAY FFXIV THROUGH STEAM, then with this patch, you will have to use the Steam "Play" button in your Library to launch the game.

You will be prompted to input your SquareEnix login, password, and if you've an authenticator active, that one-time password.

From there the game ought to complete patching, the launcher pops up like normal, and all is right with the world.

If you used a much older .exe file or other work arounds, then you may have a few extra hoops to jump through. I know @dragons-bones had an older method of login and had to do a game reinstall (back up your gshade and mod folders first; all her other UI and character files remained intact and good to go, though).

If you simply use the PC version cuz you go directly through the SE store and NOT Steam, ignore this, it's not about your install. Playstation users are likewise unaffected.

Do you think i should uninstall the game bcs nowadays im just too lazy to play and all i did is open the app to get the daily gifts and thats it. Idk i just didnt feel that excited anymore but at the same time it can be a regretful decision bcs ive been playing this since it first came out. What do you think i should do 🙈

Apologies it took me a while to answer. I can really only speak on what I personally have done in the past, but it really comes down to what you think is the best option. 

I played SIF for 2 or 3 years, by the time Shining Live was announced, I knew it would be best to wean myself of SIF since I can only focus on one rhythm game at a time. I had taken breaks for a few months before, but stopping all together was harder. As you said you can easilly feel regret or guilt over stopping a game. In my case, I knew I was doing it because there was something that I would prefer, and at the time SIF was becoming a bit stressful for me anyway.

I got the the point you are at with Shining Live, and eventually I wasn’t logging in for dailies either. My best advice for you is to consider if you arent playing Shining Live because you no longer enjoy it as much or have the time for it, or if you aren’t playing but would like to. If you think you need a break, set an amount of time to go on SL hiatus (say, a month or so) then return after that time has passed, and if you still have no desire to keep playing, feel free to stop. 

Also, there is no need to delete your account forever! If you still want the possiblity to return to Shining Live someday, but want the space on your phone for now etc, you can always delete the app, but link your account data to twitter, facebook, KLab ID, or Game center/Google Play so you can retrieve it later if you want. Néhány változás jön holnaptól: ezentúl csak Instagramról fogok bejegyzéseket írni, és azt fogom továbbítani mind a facebook, mind a Tumblr oldalamra. Itt ennek két következménye lesz: sajnos kicsit romlani fog a képek felbontása, mivel az Instagram butít a képeken, cserébe viszont itt is némileg részletesebb szövegek jelennek majd meg a képekkel, mint eddig. A “napi műhelykép” megnevezés pedig elmarad, eddig se nagyon volt más... Remélem tetszeni fog!

Some changes are coming from tomorrow. I will post only from Instagram, and forward the posts to Facebook and Tumblr. You will notice two major differences: One, that the pictures may have somewhat worse resolution (thanks to Instagram), but you’ll get more detailed description of the photos. The ‘daily workshop’ title also says goodbye, since I just wrote it every single day, and that’s not so informative. Hope you’ll enjoy!

Hello! I'm unable to link my account on jp to anything (facebook, twitter, klab id) so I can't transfer phones! What can I do about this? I followed a "how to link account" tutorial but it doesn't work...

Hi! I’m so sorry this took me a while to answer, my JP account wouldn’t update correctly so I couldnt double check anything and I didn’t want to give you incorrect information. Since I finally sorted it out, here we go!

I’m not sure which guide you followed, but try:Other > Account Link > Choose what you want to link toその他 > アカウント連携 > Choose what you want to link to

JP didn’t used to have an option to link to facebook, but it seems it added it. If it has the 未連携 kanji it meeans it isnt linked, and if it says 連携済み if it is linked.

To link to an account, just select what service you want to link to (twitter, facebook, KLab ID or Google Play/Game Center) and follow the prompt given to log in to it. I’ve found that twitter is the easiest to link to, and it seems you can have multiple accounts linked to each twitter if they are from different servers (I have my JP and EN account linekd to the same account). 

After you install Shining Live on the other device, select “continue from data” or “Data Transfer” in the bottom-right of the title screen to continue the game from your past data.

*Just sidenote, you can transfer between devices, but you cannot transfer from one server to another. Unlike some other games you do seem to keep your prisms and all other resources even if you transfer from ios to android or visa-versa.

It should work if you follow those steps, if you get a weird message pop up message ti to be and I can try help you out.

So I finally started linking my shining live account to make it super secure and so I linked it to a Klab account and I want to do the same for my Japanese account and I was wondering if I could use the same Klab account or do I have to make another one to link with my jp account?

Hey sorry it took em a few days to answer. Good job finally linking your account, its really nice to have that security in case you somehow lose your account.

I’m not sure about KLab ID to be honest since I haven’t got mine linked to one (I have it linked to Facebook, Twitter and Google Play) so I can’t help too much with that. If you want to be safe and have your JP account linked without being sure if you can use the same KLab ID, you can always link your JPaccount to something else. Having it linked to one of the other options I mentioend above sould work.

Otherwise, if anyone knows if you can have multiple accounts linked to the same KLab ID please let me know!

Yep! I don’t use twitter much, but I’m pretty sure it does stay linked to the account. You can always double check in-game.
