Went to the courthouse for a law assignment today. We initially tried to find the superior court, but then accidentally stumbled into a smaller court. When I first walked in, I was startled by how nice everyone was. They guided me to different courtrooms. We even managed to talk to the lawyers while the judge took a break. They gave me the whole breakdown and taught us a lot about the difference between civil and criminal cases.
The case we sat in on was a criminal case going over a phone robbery. Really small in theory, but I don't know. It wasn't a trial, there was no jury, it was just a motion to surpress. There were three defendants, all black males. It seemed like the main thing they were arguing over was whether the police took ample time in actually tracking down the suspects, instead of stereotyping them and arbitrarily grabbing them off the streets as "black males."
Then I took my accounting midterm. I think I did alright.
Came back and started playing water pong. This was one of the racks my friends decided to try. We're really mature, obviously.
Good day. Great learning experience. And of course, as always, fun.
