SINISTER was terrible.
Watched Sinister the other night.
I am clearly in the minority here, and it clearly did OK in the box office.
But as a major fan of horror, I must declare that Sinister is a terrible movie.
THE BAD
An illogical movie, a silly movie even.
I won't spoil it, suffice it to say I picked who was doing the killing and how the movie would end in the first 2 minutes. You will too.
The demon itself was a joke. Who was the art director who approved the final design? It looked like a guy dress up for a KISS concert. The peek-a-boo jump scare at the end of the movie was the final cherry on the shitcake that was this movie, a final insult to horror fans.
Poor Ethan Hawke, slumming it.
THE GOOD
The only good. The DARK AMBIENT sound track was top notch and very effective. It's probably what will save this movie form going straight to the bottom of the bargain bin. Sadly the musical artists (Accurst and Judgehydrogen) get no love or recognition until the end of the credits. Beautiful, haunting music and I hope to hear much more from them in the future. Thumbs up to the music director.
