I finished my Junior Project! I did my project on Christian the Lion. I made it into the Thesis Show, as well! If you're in the NYC area, you should go check it out at 601 West 26th Street, 15th floor. There's also a lot of other amazing work by my friends and peers to check out.

I remember Kim-anh telling me of this documentary called 'a lion called Christian' on youtube. She told me to watch it, but I was too busy then. I just finished watching it and it was a superb use of 45:07 minutes! The documentary reminded me so much of me and mushu (my first puppy). It reminded me of my special connection with mushu:) teehee. People say that pets choose their masters and I believe Mushu chose me :) The day I went to see him, I purposely chose not to go to him but to see if he would walk to me. HE DID! He slowly walked to my feet and sat there :D. When he was still living with us, he would come whenever I call. He would listen to my commands above all others. He would choose to sit with me above others :'). 

Now going back to 'a lion called Christian', the documentary is about a lion cub bought in the late 60's by two Australian friends from Harrod's department store. After 8 months of taking care of him in their apartment, they found it hard to give him a good life in london city. So, they arranged for him to move to Africa. After a year of leaving him there, they went back to visit him and he remembered them!

In 1969 a young Australian, John Rendall and his friend Ace Bourke, bought a small lion cub from Harrods pet department, which was then legal. 'Christian' was kept in the basement of a furniture shop on the Kings Road in Chelsea, the heart of the swinging sixties. Loved by all, the affectionate cub ate in a local restaurant, played in a nearby graveyard, but was growing fast... 

...in 1971 he was flown to Kenya, his ancestral home, and returned to the wild by lion-man George Adamson. Nine months later in 1972, John and Ace returned to Kora in Kenya. This clip is of their reunion at that time. It was an emotional reunion: "He ran towards us, threw himself onto us, knocked us over and hugged us, with his paws on our shoulders." John Rendall
