Anthony ‘Ace’ Bourke and John Rendell of ‘Sophistocat’ furniture store on the Kings Road, Chelsea with Christian the lion cub. They purchased Christian from Harrod’s in 1969 for 250 guineas and he became a resident of the store, before later being reintroduced into the wild with help from conservationist George Adamson.

Voici une belle histoire d’amour entre deux hommes et un lion nomme Christian.

Pendant leur premier voyage à Londres en 1969, deux Australiens John Rendall et Ace Berg découvrent un lionceau en cage chez Harrods. Ils décident de l’acheter et de l’élever par leurs propres moyens.

Très vite, Christian s’avère être un lion très calin et très jour à tel point qu’il devient même une célébrité locale dans la communauté de Chelsea. Malheureusement, ils s’aperçoivent très vite que Christian devient trop grand pour pouvoir s’épanouir dans leur environnement quotidien. John et Ace comprennent alors que la seule solution est de tenter de réintroduire Christian à la vie sauvage en Afrique. Après plusieurs mois de négociations avec le gouvernement kenyan, ils parviennent à trouver un accord. Ils contactent alors George Adamson,  un Britannique vivant au Kenya et spécialisé dans la réintroduction des lions a la vie sauvage. En 1970, Christian est acheminé au Kenya par avion et est pris en charge par George Adamson. C’est un moment très difficile à vivre pour John et Ace même s’ils savent qu’ils ont pris la meilleure décision possible pour Christian.

Un an plus tard, John et Ace décident de revenir voir Christian. George Adamson les prévient que Christian est devenu un lion sauvage. Il est donc fort possible que leur réunion soit impossible voir dangereuse. Après plusieurs heures de marche dans la savane, George, John et Ace retrouvent enfin Christian. Ce qui va suivre est tout simplement unique et surprenant.

L’histoire de Christian est la preuve que même un animal sauvage n’oublie pas et que l’amour est universel. En espérant que cette belle histoire continue d’être transmise de génération en génération.
