Fox’s Tongue and Kirin’s Bone: Signed Copies & Audible Preorder!
Signed Copies || Audible
Humanity is dying, hunted to extinction by creatures of legend. One boy was born to save them all.
That boy just got knifed in the back. He looked a bit too much like Aaron, you see.
Now it’s Aaron’s job to step up, lest his Death correct that little mix-up. But Aaron’s skills as a street rat run more towards stealing and stabbing than towards saving. And the more he learns of what brought dear dead Markus to that fatal alleyway, the more he has to wonder just what the world’s savior was really up to the night the wrong boy died.
Featuring an ace protagonist, All The Politics, and more mythological worldbuilding than you can shake a suspiciously grinning fox at.

It is late in the month to be posting this, but for the remainder of Pride Month I've made my Adventures of Watts and Sherlock free on Smashwords! (The first book is 'pay what you want' but now you can grab the next two books for $0!) It's a mystery/slow burn series that takes the Sherlock Holmes genre and tosses it into a cyberpunk dystopia.
"In a futuristic city, a young doctor finds himself living with a strange man named Sherlock, who is attempting to emulate his literary namesake to a disturbing degree. Dr. Watts soon finds himself whisked along as Sherlock solves cases of theft, blackmail, kidnappings, and murder. Now if only he could figure out what possessed him to agree to this."
Here's a link to the series, and the coupon code is MK86K
Enjoy!
Finished Disaster Log C. It’s a wonderful game. The protagonist, an asexual metereologist called Mel, builds a boat to survive a flood caused by endless rain but it gets invaded by the pirate Issa who takes her hostage. Both attempt to survive the apocalypse and find land, with your choices regarding Mel’s actions affecting their relationship.
Fantastic Sci-Fi book with an Ace protagonist! This is hidden gem is definitely one of my favorite books of all time. It’s heartwarming, a little bit silly at times, but all the while holding a serious tone. The best part is the main character is not painted as weird or struggling with her asexuality, instead it shows her as capable and no different than her non-ace neighbors! No romantic sub-plot, no magically turning her straight for the sake of plot-twist. She’s Asexual from the beginning and all the way to the end! I talked with the author a little bit and got this wonderful little story about writing the Ace character: “So when I set out to write Guest, one of the earliest scenes that came to me is the one at the kitchen table, where Guest asks Thione where her children and husband are. It’s a short scene, but it’s a powerful one, rich with emotions. In the original version of the scene, she demurs and doesn’t really answer him. It’s implied that she’s ace or aromantic, but the book doesn’t absolutely say it.
I loved the tension of this scene, and felt that (for reasons that will be clear in the sequel) her being unattached in this way would make her the perfect companion for an alien spider. It allowed me to focus on their wonderful friendship.
When I was shopping Guest around, one of the editors at a well-known press said she'd publish it. I was ecstatic! But then she dropped the other shoe – she’d publish it if I turned the friendship between Thione and Gabe (a supporting character) into a buddy-cop-romance thing. I recoiled so hard when she said that. It was so wrong for Thione’s character, the tone of the book, everything. I thought publishing was supposed to be progressive and stuff, but the truth is, it still has many prejudices.
I could have changed the book to suit this editor’s request, and I probably could have sold a thousand copies by now had I done so. But I hated the idea so much, that I realized this was a critical part of the book, however short that scene was.
I knew I needed to defend Thione as both a female main character who just didn’t need a man to share her spotlight, and I needed to also defend her as a complete character even without romance. I rewrote the scene to double down on her nature – she was ace, and it was always going to be like that for her. The book, which I loved to bits, suddenly felt even more ‘right.’ Thione is 100% romance free, and the series will stay that way. I pinky promise. In fact, I’ve already written a scene in the second book that nails this door shut."
Calling Beta Readers!
The time has come.
I’m an un-published (but hoping to be published) YA author seeking beta readers for my YA, Fantasy, LGBT+ fiction novel.
What I’m looking for:
2-3 beta readers! Fans of fantasy or the YA genre. Queer/LGBT+ people, specifically ace or trans readers who love to see representation in lit. POC who can help me with sensitivity in my descriptions and depictions of characters of color. If you fit any or all of the descriptors above, I’d love to have you!
The Work:
My Soul to Keep is a YA novel in the Fantasy and LGBT+ fiction genres. It features a colorful (pun intended) cast of queer characters, characters of color, and a foul-mouthed unicorn. The main protagonist is asexual, so the story features mostly non-romantic/platonic relationships, with no central romance.
It is roughly 100k words long.
Synopsis-
Things are not all well in the kingdom of Bedor. A rash of illness has spread across the land, sending its victims into confusion, coma, andeventually, death. No one can explain how or why these people have fallen ill, and no known cure exists.
In her little village, Penelope Tailor knows nothing of the mysterious illness. Her troubles are more mundane–a nagging mother who won’t stop begging her to marry. A growing restlessness, a desire to leave her tiny town and see what else the world has to offer her. The fear that, if she stays, she’ll never discover who she truly is. When Penny herself falls under the influence of the mysterious illness, her only choice is a quest to find the cure.
If this sounds interesting to you, please contact me. You can reach me here on Tumblr, or by email at: [email protected] Please tell me why you’re contacting me, and give me a few sentences about your experience beta reading (if you have any, definitely not a requirement) and why you think you’d be a good fit for this novel!
Looking forward to hearing from some great people!
(And please feel free to reblog, spread this around, even if you’re not personally interested in reading for me! Thanks!)
