lauren page has died. ( :~) )
denial sets off the chain of events.the initial response is a laugh. it’s such a crazy notion, an impossibility. a world without lauren ? it wasn’t something sophie had ever considered. but the lips the news had come from didn’t smile. it was no joke. no ruse. it was REAL.
confusion sets in next. it’s brief. how could this happen ? who let this happen ? who did this ? how could she do this ? leave sophie ? it was supposed to be the two of them. basically cradle to grave. and now… it wasn’t going to be that way ? who was going to take care of aidan ?
everything she could see — it turned red. anger, no. not anger. more. rage. absolute, blinding fury. whoever did this to lauren. took her life from her so prematurely. lauren had so much to live for, so much to do, and that time was unrightfully taken from her. sophie VOWED she would find whoever did this to lauren, this incredible crime to the universe, and end them.
and then, then… the void, a gaping hole in the very center of her heart. like a black hole had settled in her chest and the sheer force of gravity was tearing her apart from the inside. a supernova exploding in the middle of her. lightning searing through her veins. everything — the whole world around her — was tearing sophie apart. and her knees feel weak. she falls to them, hunching over, praying that it isn’t true, praying to GOD above that it’s a lie.
BUT IT IS A TERRIBLE TRUTH.
