Hey! I don't know if you're the correct person to ask, but do you know of any true asexual!Sherlock fanfics? I'm looking for a change from all these touchy-feely Johnlock fanfictions, and I'd like to see a John who loves Sherlock just the way he is. Thank you so much! -Finn
Hi Lovely!
Ah, I don’t have too many Ace!Sherlock (or John) fics, and I think what I do have are all on Alexx’s list here, hahah!
Here’s what I’ve got bookmarked, hope they’re alright!
Settling In by PorcupineGirl (T, 1,030 w. || Ace Sherlock/Straight-Biromo John, Queerplatonic Relationship, Fluff) – Asexual!Sherlock/Straight!John in a queerplatonic romantic relationship. It’s a bit of an oddball, but anything fluffy and loving and nonporny will be endlessly and forever adored. It’s always fun to see the two work out that hey, we’re in love, we don’t have sex, but it’s still a wonderful and meaningful relationship.
Random Numbers by songlin (T, 1,671 w. || Ace Sherlock / Straight John, Cuddling / Snuggling, Massage, Hand Holding, Bed Sharing, Fluff, Post-TRF, Slice of Life) – A collection of moments in the relationship of asexual!Sherlock and straight!John.
Tangential by Bitenomnom (NR, 2,047 w. || Ace Sherlock, Fluff and Love, Cuddles, Friendship, Sherlock is a Kept Man, Sherlock Divorces his Work, Nightmares) – In which John stitches up Sherlock’s head (but not really), Sherlock comes into John’s room at night to take his laptop (but not really), Sherlock is married to his Work (but not really), and John is more than proficient at keeping Sherlock (really, definitely). Part 48 of Mathematical Proof
Rooftop Confession by Random_Nexus (T, 2,514 w. || Ace Sherlock, Developing Relationship, Friendship / Love, Angsty Fluff) – Sherlock asks John to join him for a slightly unexpected discussion.
The Second Law of Thermodynamics by entanglednow (T, 3,614 || Asexual Sherlock, Bed Sharing, Sharing Body Heat) – In which there’s no heating and there’s a dead owl in Sherlock’s bed. Part 1 of Thermodynamics {{This whole Series is Ace Sherlock, so be sure to read them all!}}
The Genetic Algorithm by Bitenomnom (NR, 3,786 w. || Ace Sherlock, Friendship, Cuddling Fluff, Sherlock Experiments on John, Alternating First Person POV) – Some problems defy the usage of cold, clean-cut linear logic. It is impossible to devise a way to take steps that ultimately lead exactly to an optimal answer. Sherlock believes John Watson is one of those problems. Part 28 of Mathematical Proof
Bed-Sharing Between Flatmates by testosterone_tea (T, 5,053 w. || 5 and Ones, Bed Sharing, PTSD John, Science, Whump, Insecure Sherlock) – 5 times Sherlock had an excuse to share John's bed, and the one time he didn't need one.
A Study in Asexuality by ladyxdarcy (M, 8,082 w. || Ace Sherlock / Bi John, Acephobia, Angst & Fluff, Happy Ending, Emotional Sherlock, Est. Rel., Insecure / Vulnerable Sherlock, Overdose / Implied/Referenced Drug Use, Past Suicidal Thoughts) – When Sherlock, asexual to his core, fears that John may grow bored of a sexless life, he decides to do whatever it takes to make John happy so he stays. Good thing John is already happy. {{Haven’t read this one yet, so read at your own discretion}}
The Important Bit by Solshine (G, 9,984 w. || Platonic Marriage, Domestics, Asexual Sherlock) – Just where exactly is the line between “to love” and “to be in love”? What difference is required between “flatmate” and “husband”? (Besides the rings, obviously.) No, the important bit is that they have each other. Thirty years, give or take, in an atypical marriage. Basically a long bit of platonic domestic fluff.
A Terrific Soporific by antietamfalls (T, 11,269 w. || Bed Sharing, Sleepy Cuddles, Fluff, Insomnia, Experiments, Ace Sherlock) – Sherlock, a long-time sufferer of insomnia, is forced to share a bed with John at a hotel while on a case. To his astonishment, he finds that spending the night next to John helps him sleep and becomes determined to maneuver himself back into John's bed.
A Love with No Name Series by aceofhearts61 (G to M, 49,955 w. across 20 stories || Asexual Sherlock / Straight John, Est. Rel, Queerplatonic Relationship, Romance, Cuddling, Fluff, Platonic Romance, Domestics) – In which Asexual!Sherlock and Straight!John are platonically in love life partners.
Unkissed Series by 221b_hound (T to E, 184,168 w. across 46 works || Established Relationship, Ace Sherlock) – Sherlock returned from the dead a year ago. John returned to Baker Street six months ago. They’ve been in a couple since then. or at least, not NOT a couple. For two smart men, they sure can be dumb. Luckily, an art thief tries to drown Sherlock, Sherlock has a fever dream and things are about to change.
So stupid.
I read Sherlock as Ace/homoromantic.
Ain’t nobody screaming erasure at those of us who believe that way either. People disagree or have their own interpretations and that’s fine.
Leave peeps be.
I don’t know.
I go back and forth thinking Sherlock is ace/aro then ace/romantic but I just can’t decide.
I think this may be in part because Sherlock himself doesn’t know what he wants or how he wants it. Maybe he thinks about societal expectations and wonders, is this me or is this part of being socialized to be or think a certain way about lifelong commitments and the people I want to make them to?
I think this makes Sherlock a more interesting character.
I don’t really think Sherlock is gay so much as he has a John now and that’s all there is to it sometimes and he doesn’t know what to do with all of those feelings where John is concerned and yeah
I don’t want to delve too deep just some thoughts
Ace Sherlock in a newfound relationship with (bi) John. Sherlock is insecure John would leave because Sherlock cannot offer him sex. John reassures him that it doesn't matter because he is the person John loves most regardless. (1/2)
Everything goes well…until 3 months later. Unable to fulfill his sexual desire with his partner, John grew more irritable towards every little things Sherlock does. they fought again, John went out to “get some air” and ended up in a pub There, he met a woman named Mary. And he ended up spending the night with her. He had a few drinks but want drunk. He slept with her knowing he’s betraying Sherlock. But that night he didn’t care, he just wanted a good shag. When he came home the next morning, Sherlock could deduce it all but didn’t say anything. John hated it. He hated himself. He hated Sherlock. Maybe it was the guilt that overwhelmed him but he couldn’t admit it then. So he turned it to anger Before he knew it, he started screaming at Sherlock. Because it was all his fault for being so afraid of sex. For creating a barrier between them. For being so selfish. For not offering John sex. For depriving John of what he needed. When John was done screaming, Sherlock’s expression could not be read. His lips quiver slightly. He looked like he was holding back tears. Without a word, Sherlock grabbed his coat and left the flat. He never returned home.
Sherlock would be so hurt and heart broken and feel so betrayed by John because he thought John understood and then it turns out like he was just like everyone else
asexual sherlock coming out to his partner and they turn him away because the thought of no sex in a relationship is too much for them and when sherlock asks liz or john (depending on which you ship more) they say yes and ask ace!lock on a date...
yes
magellyn replied to your post “Also, your nerdy quiz! I believe the answers are as follows: 1. Peruse; 2. Antipathy; 3. Parody; 4. Banal; 5. Affluence; 6. Eschew; 7. Amoral; 8. Sedulous; 9. Denouement; 10. Elucidate; 11. Obdurate; 12. Scurrilous?; 13. Imminent; 14. Onerous; 15. Bedlam. I do believe your students are well deserving of a round of applause for tackling this quiz of yours. My English teachers were not nearly so challenging in high school :)”
I do mean, where JOHN chooses to not have sex for Sherlock's sake. It's a bit of a difference. Much nicer. <3
I can't wait to write this! Oh, man, I need to get the creative juices flowing...
Case of Pride
Sherlock looked at himself in the mirror. Lilac shirt, dove grey slacks. Accentuating his frame. He knew John would appreciate it, the figure he cut. It made him warm inside. He crinkled his nose, softly smiled at the idea, shaking his head and lifting his shoulder as he rolled his eyes and closed his armoire door. Sentiment. It was... nice.
This case was not.
But it gave him an out...
