I want to "write with" you
I’ve written while in the same room as other people only a couple of times, but it was pretty interesting! I feel I might be a weird person to work with while I’m writing, though, since I curl into progressively smaller balls as I work...
Introductions
Hello guys, Amrita/Amy/Ami here. Poedamnrron used to be my blog before tumblr fucked up everything by demanding a password change, and now I can no longer access my blog, because that old e-mail address of mine doesn't exist anymore. I tried so hard, but apparently there's no way I can get it back. And this hellsite obviously owns my soul, so I made a new account. And here we are now. I'll try to make this my new safe and happy place while also trying to get my old one back. This will probably be at least 90% what poedamnrron was, because I never wanted to leave it and I was actually super happy with it. Also, I'd like to ask my former mutuals for a favor. If you find this, could you please reblog it? (And also contact me guys, I miss you!) I'm still searching for all the blogs that made this place special for me. I could use all the help I can get. Thanks! Love you guys, A
I dont really know about a trademark, but I can recognize your comics at a glance. There's just something about them that screams its done by you.
I sometimes worry that my comic style is too generic or is too overly simplified, so it’s a relief to hear that it’s recognized at a glance, thanks dude! :]
I was wondering if you had any suggestions for mikannie fics. Your the only one in the subfandom I know. I've read pretty much everything you've written pertaining to them and several others and now I'm a bit starved for more.
Mikaani fic recs... Well, these are all a bit older because I haven’t gone looking for new SNK fic in a long long while, but here we go.
First and foremost, @politicallyactivevampire is the only person I started following for mikaani content and am still in love with their mikaani stuff, written and drawn. They’re lonely_no_more over AO3 and I recommend them highly.
Taste the Gold will be my smut rec on this list because I am head over heels for its poetics and description of synesthesia in the Mikasa-framed narration.
Signed A is my domestic semi-fluffy modern!AU rec. Any time we can get an awkward Annie Leonhardt and a rough-on-every-edge Mikasa Ackerman in a modern!AU, I’m jazzed.
The TITANS isn’t strictly a mikaani fic, but I can never pass up an opportunity to rec this one. Superheroes, robust world and character building, at least one concept that helped inspire me in a story of mine, and a really good sense of humor to balance out drama? C’mon, the mikaani is the icing on the fab cake that is this story.
And last but not least, Miscommunication is Key. I generally don’t enjoy high school/early college type stories because they’re too often filled with boring, overblown drama. This story is full of overblown drama, but the writing actually treats it like the overblown drama of young adults by making it funny. It is hands down one of the funniest stories I’ve read, and it’s such a fantastic slow build for these two idiots.

I tag @acenerdlord & @aggressivelynotchill because they are pretty much my only friends on here, I don’t know 10 people who I’d feel comfortable tagging in this sorta thing, which is kinda pathetic but whatcha gonna do, life is hard. Also, this was super duper hard.
So I've been reading Daemon Waetchers and I just wanna say. Sasha, Mikasa, and Annie is the OT3 in this. Also, demon hunting power rangers... Howd come up with that and why did you run with it?
I am not opposed to this OT3. I may or may not have written shades of that dynamic in there on purpose.
I came up with the idea from a few things.
I love Power Rangers-style stories, but I’ve never written one.
I wanted to write something with Sasha as the main character because she’s a badass.
I’d been binge-looping Linkara’s History of Power Rangers for several days and I had a brain bug.
As for why I actually ran with it, I operate under the “fuck it, I really wanna write it” principle. I’ve started up a couple stories based on the high demand I received for them, and those stories are the only ones I regret. If I don’t really want to write something, I just don’t, and if I really want to write something, I go for it wholeheartedly.
The one thing I’ve really learned over the last...well, nearly a decade now, is that when you really want to write something, it generally doesn’t matter if the subject matter is “popular.” If you throw yourself into it, it will find readers. My cases in point are as follows:
Frontierstuck
ha ha bet some folks didn’t expect me to mention this puppy.
No one writes westerns! No one writes western!AUs, and sure as hell no one wrote westerns in the HS fandom for what I knew of it.
But goddamn did I ever have a brain bug about the idea, so I dove headlong into it for my first and most popular work in the HS fandom.
Wolves of the North
Werewolves, by and large in my experience, are not a commonly used fantasy trope. More often you’ll see vampires for creatures or just magic overall. But I really wanted to write a werewolf story, so I said to hell with popular tropes and went off on my own. And it wound up topping multiple people’s lists for favorite SNK fics or yumikuri/mikaani stories. Lots of fan art, people saying I was a BNF for a bit, the whole deal.
thieves in the night
I was dead set on a modern!AU. I wanted to write Annie as my MC. But I did not want to go the standard high school!AU route because I thought it was just draining and dull. No one was writing modern!AU stories with Annie and Mikasa as adults in adult relationships, and I wanted to go into that. And that one also tops a lot of folks’ favorite mikaani stories.
And of course, my favorite example of this attitude being successful: Chigai.
AU of an AU.
Centered entirely on my OCs.
Drastically alters the events of ATLA’s canon to frame my OCs as the protagonists (and indeed as the heroes overall).
Despite this, every person who’s taken the time to read the behemoth story that is Chigai (over 200K words, my longest project to date) and leave me a comment has told me how much they love my goddamn OC children.
People. Have cosplayed. As Kailas.
I have seen many a webcomic character or altered MCs from existing properties be cosplayed, and rightfully so. But I have yet to encounter another OC out of an AU getting cosplayed. And I am endlessly humbled by that.
(if I ever met another person who was cosplaying as Kailas or Hova, I think I would probably go silent, sit down, and start crying)
I absolutely put my heart and soul into these stories and I love them all dearly. They have taught me about writing and I have loved them and their stories for it. That tends to come across more to readers than finding the popular things and writing to them, I find.
And it’s why, even going the less than popular/standard routes that I do, I won’t stray from that principle. It really has served me in the best way, since I never really lose the readerships I build in my different fandoms, even when I sashay over to a new one.
So I just burned through the House of the Crimson Tiger. Fantastic writing. It looks like you've currently been embroiled in another fic of yours, but i was wondering if you still had plans for the continuation of it? Also, is okay if i ask for your steam id?
I do! The next chapter of Crimson Tiger should be its last, but I’ve been through a rather unrelenting whirlwind of stress for the last several months so it got backburner’d really hard. I needed to work on other things to keep my brain afloat.
I don’t play any multiplayer games via Steam, but it’s STEAM_0:1:159980828 for anyone who’s curious.
