dark brown/black with yellow corn-like seeds, surrounded by interlocking irritant or stinging bristles: mature 

Interesting points: 

Avoid inhaling when handling fruits, use gloves to prevent bristles of fruit to stick into skin

Avoid getting bristles into eyes

bristles have similar effect as itching powder 

Seeds are roasted and eaten by Australian aborigines
