hearing his father talk like this gives a weird feeling at the young prince. he’s sitting outside the king’s prison, just a few millimeters away from the bars and the figure of the prisoner himself, so close that they can touch each other —— yet, the king is not even looking at his son.
lancer remains silent for long, long moments, looking up at the back of his father, then down at the floor. thinking about those words, their weight... what they might truly mean. he wants to believe those words. he wants to remember what he’s saying, like he asked him. but... how can he, after all that happened? after what he did?...
