From FREEing with sculpting by ATSUMI and paintwork by PINPOINT comes this 1/8 scale figure (7.1”) of Iroha Tamaki from Magica Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story. She is pictured here enjoying a break from her usual fighting in Kamihama City. Instead she looks to be enjoying a summer festival in a pink yukata with detailed flowers. She also holds a pink bag with a sand dollar pattern. Highlights include her long pink hair that is braided and held back loosely with a gem as well as the casual way her heel lifts from her sandal on her raised foot and the gradient paintwork of her back bow. A must-have figure for fans of Iroha!

Explanation: Excellent! The various pinks, purples, & reds harmonize very nicely between the yukata, the kinchaku bag, the obi and the zori. The silhouette is spot on. The collar and ohashori are present and in proportion. The obi knot is a perfect choice for this lovely outfit.

Accuracy Rating: 4.5/5

Explanation: Only real issue with this kitsuke is the waist-cinching effect at the waist; proper kitsuke has curvy women pad themselves out to create an overall column-esque shape. Otherwise, it checks all the boxes! She’s wearing proper undergarments: see her white tabi socks and red nagajuban. Her green kimono has an ohashori and she’s wearing the collar up over her shoulders, using a red scarf to hide her chest even further. The pattern is sparse near the hem, but is a nice reference to snakes. Her plain white obi is unusual, but I will reserve judgement since I can’t see the back of the figure. The golden yellow obiage and obijime are lovely touches and the design of the obijime is very creative.

Explanation: Huge points off for the fanservice pose and the fact that they give her a red nagajuban (visible at the neckline and sleeve edges), yet it’s NOT visible AT ALL from the ohashori down! Otherwise, it’s a decent kitsuke. The yellow obi is a lovely contrast to the purple kimono and the red obiage, red obijime, and a red nagajuban are a very pretty classic touch.
