Accuracy Rating: 1/5

Explanation: I HATE this so much. I understand that it’s primary purpose is fanservice, but I HEAVILY DISLIKE this. She looks like she’s been assaulted and her attacker(s) tried to rip off her clothes and rape her! I left with one point because the purple/ white/ yellow scheme is pretty and the undone obi seems to be aware of how obi musubi are tied. Other than that, GARBAGE!

Standing 9.1” in 1/8 scale, she looks ready for a summer festival date with Ainz as she stands bashfully in a lovely yukata that features her trademark spiderweb design and holds a fan to her chest featuring Ainz on it. Accuracy Rating: 4.5/5

Explanation: Much more accurate than it would seem at first glance! She’s not wearing any extra layers (the lace cuffs and edging could be modern false layers i.e. sewn into the hems & sleeves and not some frilly laced nagajuban) or tabi socks with her zori. I don’t care for the pattern/ styling, but yukata are the most relaxed when it comes to following rules of kitsuke, so I won’t that against the designer. The silhouette is fairly cylindrical, there’s definitely a visible ohashori and there’s no physically improbable fanservice anywear! Her obi is a little strange, which is where I took off half a point. The front gives the impression of a proper obi, but then disappoints with the unruly long eared bow in the back. Otherwise, very nicely done!

From Banpresto comes this DXF figure of samurai “Foxfire Kinemon” from One Piece. He stands in a familiar pose with a serious expression and his hand on one of his sword preparing to unsheathe it. Measures 6.7”.

Explanation: Not bad for a yukata ensemble. The pattern is super bold and interesting, while the colors complement his swords. Only issue is the obi; men’s yukata always have a proper men’s obi musubi worn to the back. That dark red knot in the front just doesn’t cut it for me.

Positives: Excellent! A light blue yukata featuring pink and blue hydrangeas is stunning for summer. The blue in the yukata and the flowers echoes the blue in her hair as well as the pink in her cotton candy and obijime. The yellow color of her obi is also repeated in the hanao of her geta and the goldfish. 

Negatives: That sloppy neckline and those big boobs already put a damper on my parade. Not to mention the use of such a large, elaborate peony kanzashi when she’s wearing a super casual yukata.

Fate/stay night Saber Alter: Yukata Ver.

Saber Alter, the corrupted version of the powerful servant Saber from the Fate/stay night series, puts aside her heavy black armor for a light summer yukata in this 1/8th scale figure. Even while engaging in some traditional summer fun, Saber Alter’s cold beauty shines through with her apathetic gaze and an unlit sparkler dangling from her hand. Perhaps she’d rather be fighting? Though maybe not her favorite moment in time, it’s certainly a rare one any fan will want to hold on to with this beautifully sculpted figure.

Positives: The colors are excellent! The dark blue of the yukata is a classic choice. The white and purple cherry blossoms and butterflies are lovely and encourage the eye to move around the figure. The obi’s bright red color is reflected in the geta’s hanao as well as the match/ firework she’s holding. Most impressive is the figure’s pose. It’s able to showcase much of the yukata while also not being excessively fan service. Her collar is nicely placed and the yukata isn’t too clingy around her buttocks at all!

Negatives: The size and shape of the obi knot is a little disappointing. It’s an attention-grabber, for sure, but definitely not something you’d see on a young lady.

Hayate Yagami: Yukata Ver.

Hayate Yagami, one of the three protagonists from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the Movie 2nd A's is enjoying the summer in figure form! Dressed in a flower pattern yukata, Hayate seats herself on a bench with a fan in one hand and a yo-yo balloon in the other. Her slender body is delicately depicted, and her yukata and sandals are also represented with detail. Be sure to display Hayate along with Nanoha and Fate to create a memorable summer scene!

Positives: The yukata’s light purple color is refreshing and light. The flowers, which appear to be peach blossoms, chrysanthemums and spider chrysanthemums, appear to be reminding viewers of the cooler weather of fall and winter.

Negatives: Oooh, boy. Despite the flowers, it’s a very plain yukata. Not very visually interesting. The purple color of the yukata is so pale, the bright yellow obi doesn’t provide any contrast. The water balloon doesn’t add anything to the ensemble and neither does the plain white uchiwa fan. The worst however is the yukata’s fit on the figure. The neckline is very loose, while the portion around her butt is FAR too tight. Not to mention the entire side of leg when get when seated.

Positives: Very cute! Her yukata is her signature purple color and the simple flowers on the hem are split between pink and blue (which, of course, make purple). Even the hanao on her geta are purple! The deep red of her obi matches her kinchaku bag. Also, the pink of her flowers reflects the pink chrysanthemum in her hair.

Negatives: The design is a little simple for her and the motifs aren’t particularly meaningful to her character.

Accuracy Rating: 4/5

Positives: I love the flower motifs in her design! Her yukata features calla lilies which, according to the Japanese Language of Flowers i.e. Hananokotoba, mean ‘magnificent beauty’ and ‘feminine modesty,' which I think are two traits true of Setsuna’s character. The cameliia flower in her hair symbolizes admiration and perfection, which might be reference to her admiration of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion in Crystal Tokyo as well as he striving to be a perfect Guardian of the Gates of Time. The red from her camellia flower, earrings, obi and geta hanao all move the eyes up and around the figure.

Negatives: That brown is such an ugly and uninspired color for a yukata! Her signature color is black and it would have been a classic color choice. Also, her purple kinchaku bag seems especially random. White would have better echoed the calla lilies instead.
