Kurumi's alluring beauty is on full display, with a boldly low collar and a kimono that shows off her impressive curves. The pattern of the kimono has also been faithfully recreated, supervised by Tsunako in order to recreate even the back of the kimono, unseen in the original illustration, in outstanding detail. Accuracy Rating: 2/5

Explanation: UGH!!! Such a waste of potential! Immediate negatives include the low open neckline, the vacuum suction of the kimono to her backside, and the confusing inclusion of both an ohashori and an open trailing hem. On the positives, the rose musubi is gorgeous, the kimono color/ pattern is very well designed, and the details on the obi front is very nicely detailed.

Rem has found herself lost in Japan!From the popular anime series Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World comes a 1/8th scale figure of one of the twin maids, Rem! The figure is based on an illustration that was used for the Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World Rem Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print that was released in June 2018, and features Rem wearing a beautiful kimono. The Japanese atmosphere from the original illustration has been faithfully captured with a gentle sculpt which also captures intricate detail creating a beautiful high-quality figure! Rem has jumped out of the ukiyo-e illustration into the figure world, ready to join your collection!

Accuracy Rating: 2/5

Explanation: Don’t get me wrong, it’s a very pretty kitsuke, but it’s definitely not accurate to any ukiyo-e print I’ve ever seen. She definitely seems to be wearing a hikizuri, since she’s picking up the hem like a maiko would, but there aren’t any shoulder or sleeve tucks. She’s definitely trying to give off the impression of multiple layers of kimono, but it seems a bit confused; she has the (1) periwinkle nagajuban, the (2) deep blue butterflies layer, the (3) white lace edged layer, and then finally (4) the light blue furisode layer. However, she also seems to be wearing a hiyoku (false extra collar) at her collar, which doesn’t seem to be reflected by any of her extra layers. There are also strange modern touches which make this not very accurate to an ukiyo-e kitsuke; the obijime tied up like a flower and the scalloped lacy edge at her collar & sleeve cuffs.

Hayate Yagami: Yukata Ver.

Hayate Yagami, one of the three protagonists from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the Movie 2nd A's is enjoying the summer in figure form! Dressed in a flower pattern yukata, Hayate seats herself on a bench with a fan in one hand and a yo-yo balloon in the other. Her slender body is delicately depicted, and her yukata and sandals are also represented with detail. Be sure to display Hayate along with Nanoha and Fate to create a memorable summer scene!

Accuracy Rating: 2/5

Positives: The yukata’s light purple color is refreshing and light. The flowers, which appear to be peach blossoms, chrysanthemums and spider chrysanthemums, appear to be reminding viewers of the cooler weather of fall and winter.

Negatives: Oooh, boy. Despite the flowers, it’s a very plain yukata. Not very visually interesting. The purple color of the yukata is so pale, the bright yellow obi doesn’t provide any contrast. The water balloon doesn’t add anything to the ensemble and neither does the plain white uchiwa fan. The worst however is the yukata’s fit on the figure. The neckline is very loose, while the portion around her butt is FAR too tight. Not to mention the entire side of leg when get when seated.

Lights! Camera! Active! Professional Filming

Each week Mount Royal Recreation films and edits a promotional video featuring one of its own employees. These short videos are informative highlights of what to expect in the centre the week to come, as well as what is new. For the most part, employees are amateur models; our Marketing and Communications team are responsible for writing scripts, directing flow, and coaching performance to make a successful shoot. When recruited, I originally anticipated configuring my physical environment to compensate for digital space. Given that we link our material with YouTube, I believed it was likely the ‘click here for related content’ would be layered onto the video interface.    Regrettably, this was not the case. We did however shoot a few different promotional stills for the ability to write content in vacant space. That was the closest I cam to needing to account for interface in any way, though it was not used in the final product.
