i’m sure most people think summer when they think camping but for me, my best camping experience [speaking as someone who went camping every year until after college] was when i was 13, i did a survival camp session in the mountains of massachusetts in february. i had to do homework to prepare for it [we had to read and write reports on two books, one of them being “alive”] and i learned a ton of useful skills, like how to make a warm shelter in two feet of mountain snow, how to start a fire [i was terrible at that, it was one of the things you had to be able to do to pass, and i didn’t manage it until the very last night], and how to navigate your way out of a forest using the stars.

anyway, it was fun! i loved it! but i love winter and survival training so it was perfect for me! probably not everyone’s ideal camping environment but i have a feeling rolf would like it too!
