jack telling gus on the 12th anniversary of his death about how isaak is doing, how algie has got another cat and how gus' sister got married at last and he was invited to the wedding but couldn't make himself go and gus wishing he could ask for details on everything

when jack isn't there, gus sometimes swimming all the way up to the beach and sitting at the very edge of the waves, looking out to sea and imagining he's sitting there with jack ;___________;

re: 9x08 if it helps, i can attest that if you just watch, like, the last ten minutes (which are season-arc relevant), you really won't miss much in between? grossness happens. jody is great! but it is sandwiched in between a lot of icky character regression and perpetually nasty attitudes towards sex and consent.

british person - it is an actual thing, but it tends to be private schools, so only if you have pots of money. or you get a really good scholarship. but it’s nowhere near as popular as it used to be.

I feel like you all are like batman. All I have to do is call out 'BRITISH PEOPLE' and one of you appear, it's so nice. Oh my god.

And yeah, that's what I gathered but it seems like every big actor from England went to boarding school and they all would have graduated in the early 2000's, so I'm just a bit like '...... what. that's still a thing?' I wasn't sure if it was more popular over there than in the States. They're literally non existent over here.

OKAY I DON'T THINK Y'ALL UNDERSTAND JUST HOW MUCH I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS

like let's talk about harry & john growing up, and john's the soft-spoken one with the polite smile, while harry's always been too loud, too bold, too everything, really; and she and john are always trading barbs because that's just how they are (barbs that are meant to slide right off, but they both know too much about each other for that)

and harry gets older, takes up smoking and cuts her hair short; she gets into furious fights with anyone who looks at her sideways and john's the one who finds her half the time dripping blood all over the bathroom floor, the one who says, exasperated, 'why are you always like this, harry', but he'll still shove a clean shirt at her and bandage her up with more careful hands than his voice might suggest

so harry gets to uni and gets a little less combative, finds clara who giggles when harry nips at her earlobes and likes it when harry talks queer theory in bed; then one day john, harry's little brother, the one who's supposed to be steady and practical and not at all impulsive, gets a haircut and packs and signs up for the army -- and harry starts drinking

and look, at first she just doesn't want to deal with the terror of waking up one day to a knock on her door and a sombre-faced officer, but it slowly gets worse until one day she realizes that she's in too deep. and clara is pinched and grey and so, so worn out, and it's too much, she doesn't want that, can't keep making clara look that way.

she walks out. (but she was always planning on coming back.)
