Achievement First Seeks Interns! - Vassar Alum Affiliated Position

Achievement First is looking for summer interns!  Positions are available at Achievement First Apollo Middle School in Brooklyn, NY.  Apollo Middle will open its doors for the first time in August and welcome 96 5th graders.  Our goal is to provide interns a great opportunity to learn about the operations of charter schools and make an immediate impact by ensuring our school is ready for scholars in August. Example projects include designing a family newsletter, managing student enrollment processes, organizing inventory, coordinating student onboarding, creating a library and database of books. A transportation stipend will be provided and the internships are flexible in terms of hours. If you are interested, please email Apollo Middle Director of Operations, Miriam René ’01 at [email protected] with your resume and a brief statement on why you are interested in K-12 education. Eight charter schools approved for New York City

SUNY Charter Schools Institute, one of two bodies that can authorize charter schools in New York State, has signed off on eight more schools to open in New York City next year.

Six of the schools, in every borough but Staten Island  are in Eva Moskowitz's Success Academy network (Moskowitz wants to operate 100 schools by a decade from now; the six new schools would bring the total to 26 next year). One is in the much smaller Achievement First network. And one is the second replica of Family Life Academy.
