NEW BRUNSWICK, IVY LEAGUERS, MEXICAN FOOD, THE LAST DRIVE Recommended listening: Breeders "Drivin on 9" Metallica "Trapped Under Ice" Purple 7 "Sorry" Didn't feel like leaving Tim's house in the morning because having breakfast with Tim and the rest of our crew sounded like a great way to wake up, but I knew that if I didn't ride I would regret the decision. I left my heart in Richmond and rode north out of the city. This was an effortless ride. Followed the old Lincoln HWY and I stopped at a Wawa just about 65 miles north of Richmond in Fredericksburg. It was a flat ride for the most part with a few sets of rollers between towns. I was able to keep a quick pace and the ride was fun because the road smooth and there was no wind. After meeting up with the van we still had about 5 hours of road in front of us. The drive went by quick enough and it was pleasant but can't recall any specific details about it. Well, maybe that's not true but maybe I'll save it for the extended version of this entry that doesn't appear on the internet. When we got to the show in New Brunswick the crowd was pretty much all college aged males and they were dressed like characters from The Dead Poet's Society. There was some nark type trying to chat up Matto in front of the house, but Matto just played weird crazy guy. Dave, the person in charge of setting up the show was very chill and made sure it all ran smoothly. I wasn't planning on drinking but after sitting through the first bands very sleepy blend of instrumental emo free jazz I started drinking at the merch table. The second band was better but they played too long so I drank more. Jeff drank too. By the time we played Acid Fast played there was a lot more people at the show but it was not a raging house show by any means. Jacob had rolled a joint and got the kids from the second band really high. They danced funny and we kept drinking. I really enjoyed that set. Pigeon Island didn't play. The last band sounded like what a band would sound like on VH1 in 2014 if that was still a thing. They're probably gonna be famous but I don't remember their name. We got Mexican food after the show and it was awesome. There was a juke box in the restaurant and Hannah put Metallica on. Not their best song but it was still awesome and had me in a great mood. I was pretty high and drunk but still insisted on taking shot gun on the way back to Philadelphia that night. I don't remember much from that drive because I passed out 15 minutes in. Navigation was supposed to be my job since I was upfront and Jeff taught me a lesson by putting plastic shit in my mouth every time I would nod off. We got back to The Bathhouse late and went right to bed. It felt good to be back in Philadelphia.
