Cheetah Acinonyx jubatus
Historically they were widespread across Africa and Asia, but now occupy about 9% of that range in Africa and Iran. There are four recognized subspecies. They are the fastest land animal. The vernacular name "cheetah" is derived from Hindustani Urdu and Hindi ćītā.
