📸 Welcome to Sarita’s photography blog! 📸
This is a catalogue of many of my past and current Instagram photos (thus, some of the exceptionally old ones may be completely ruined/fried by filters because when IG first came out I didn’t realize the filters were optional. I still post the ones I find charming lol). The newer ones will have my signature on them, as that’s something I only recently started doing. I shuffle the queue often, every time I add new photos to it, so they won’t necessarily be chronological. You can find the link(s) back to the original photos in each post, which will usually have additional information such as location and date the photo was taken.
All photos are tagged by Class, Order, Family, and Genus (with other clade names added sometimes to further narrow things down) and IUCN status, if applicable. If looking for a particular species or clade, you’ll have to search by the clade name. I usually only use the first listed common name on Wikipedia, and if there is no common name on Wikipedia, then on iNaturalist.
All wild organisms photographed in human care will be tagged ex situ, and wild organisms photographed in the wild will be tagged in situ (including introduced species; this tag is merely being used for naturally wild organisms not currently in human care). Domestic animals will just be tagged domesticated, even feral domestic animals, as neither of these tags apply to them.
For common triggers, I tag #/tw dead animal, #/tw blood, and #/tw gore (that last one just refers to an image with a dead animal where guts may be seen. I’m not posting animals suffering or being tortured, but there may be instances where I post a scene post-predation or an animal that has been fed pre-killed whole prey. I will never post a photo of an animal in the process of dying.) I can’t possibly tag every group of animals with a tw, so if there is a group that triggers or otherwise bothers you you will have to block the clade name (for example: spiders are Araneae, butterflies are Lepidoptera, snakes are Serpentes, dogs are Canidae, etc).
As stated in my profile, any of my non-human photos are free to use for art reference (NOT for use with genAI) as long as credit is given (either linked back to the photo or with the art added onto a reblog). If I see it and it’s credited properly, I’ll reblog any art that uses my photos as references with the tag #/Used My Ref (as long as it’s appropriate lol).
If you have an upcoming art project and are looking for references of a specific species (or just want to see more of said species for fun), send an ask and I’ll expedite any photos of that species I might have in the queue! I currently have 1,000 posts in the queue, as well as over 5,000 photos (and counting) I have yet to post. 🙃 Chances are I have the species you’re looking for.
If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments of a post (this one is great for general questions, or if it’s about a specific post just ask it on that particular post), or if it’s private you can send me a message. I would like to keep answering asks to a minimum, and only for species requests if possible. Same for reblogs; the only things I am going to be reblogging here are art if someone uses my photos as reference for it. I would like to keep this blog cleaner than my other ones and dedicated to only my photography.
If you enjoy my work, please consider sending a tip on Ko-fi! I am currently a “starving artist” living paycheck to paycheck, and every dollar helps!
