Autism Creativity Month: Week Four
Week four theme is daydreaming and neuronarrative! For those of you who don't know, neuronarrative is a form of divergent, intense daydreaming that is not (necessarily) harmful. It is described in psychology as "fantasy prone personality" and I also sometimes call it "traveling". Neuronarrative includes maladaptive daydreaming, but it doesn't have an assumption of a disorder/addiction, which is why everyone can use this term regardless of how positive or negative is their experience with daydreaming. More info on it here: http://autisticworlds.tumblr.com/post/135777381035/traveling-101 For week four, I encourage autistic people to share their experience with daydreaming! There are a lot of harmful stereotypes surrounding this, and I want to destroy it by showing the diversity of experiences among autistic people. So tell me, by sending an ask or making a post: what is it like for you? Do you daydream? Are you a neuronarrator? Or a lucid dreamer? Maybe you have aphantasia? Maybe you have maladaptive daydreaming? I wanna know! You can also submit: -your stories about your neuronarrative worlds (you can infodump all you want, I'm here for you) -any work of creativity that is related to daydreaming and neuronarrative -your thoughts, opinions and ideas on the topic -and as always any questions you may have Use the neuronarrative tag (#actuallynn), as well as the #acm2017 tag and the #actuallyautistic tag - alternatively you can tag my blog into your post. And have fun!

For week one, we are talking about autistic characters in media - movies, books, TV-shows, computer games, comic books and so on. I wanna know your faves, your not-so-faves, your general opinion and so on. What I will post: -fanfiction, fanart, fanvids, fanedits, etc featuring autistic characters (canon or headcanon) - created by autistic people -original works featuring autistic characters (created by whomever) -headcanon posts about characters you think are autistic -reviews of autistic characters in media -autistic OCs -anything related to the theme you might think of Submit your posts, or tag (@) the blog into them. I will also monitor the following tag: #acm2017 I will post as many things as possible. Okay, now let's have some fun!
infodump invite!
Week Two of Autism Creativity Month is all about works of creativity as special interests. So if your SpIn is a movie/TV-show/book/comicbook/video game/music band/artist/a type of creativity in general, feel free to infodump! Reblog this post or submit to the blog. I really want to hear all about your special interests and I'm sure some of the followers want to as well.
Autism Creativity Month: Week Three
Week three theme is fiction by autistic people! That doesn't just mean creative writing, it means any work you can think of: poetry, art, music, craft, sculpture, photography, editing, films, comics, essays, even programming. That includes fanworks (fanfiction, fanart, fanedits, fanvids, etc). Any new thing that you brought into this world. So this week, everything is as usual on this blog. I will: -post submissions -reblog posts (send me a link or tag me; I also check #actuallyautistic and #acm2017) -and answer all your questions Also friendly reminder that you do not need a paper diagnosis to submit - this blog is for all autistic people, regardless of whether they have access to affordable and discrimination-free healthcare. Hope you will have an amazing week, and start submitting!
Autism Creativity Month: Week Two
Week Two theme is: fiction and creativity as special interests! Special interests are part of autism criteria. Everyone experiences them differently, but in general a special interest is a topic that you fixate on and spend a lot of time thinking about it, engaging with it, talking about it, etc. Some people have only one special interest, some have a few, some have many. For some people special interests last their entire lifetime, for some they last several years, for some they change every few months. Literally anything can be a special interest, but this week I'm focusing on works of creativity. So, this week you can submit anything relating to fiction as special interests, present or past. For example: -fanfiction, fanart, fanedits, fan videos, etc of a work that is/was your SpIn -your essays and infodumps about your SpIn -your stories and memories about your SpIn -works of art if some type of creativity IS your special interest -even any random gifs or posts relating to your SpIn -really, I am giving you a chance to indulge in your special interests shame-free, as long as it's creativity related In case you are unsure, a creativity related SpIn can be: -a movie -a TV-show -a book -a video game -a music band/singer/composer -a comic book -an artist, or art in general -a craft, like origami, knitting or sculpture -and anything else you can think of I'll be posting your submissions and reblogging posts: remember, I check the tag #acm2017 If you have any questions, feel free to ask! And onwards with our celebration of autism acceptance.
autistic!Holtzmann fanfic without the cliches
Submitted by anonymous: William Massachusetts from Log Horizon is definitely autistic, and the episode Guildmaster is entirely him monologue about how he’s always had trouble connecting, understanding, and communicating with other people and never had anything that made him likeable. Then he got into the MMORPG (and woke up for gaming, did his schoolwork for gaming…) and even though it’s something that other people might think is childish, pointless, or a waste of time, the investment of people in the game MADE it worthwhile and important, and he could communicate with people in and about it and he understood it and loved it and. They never actually say “autism” but I cried seeing something so much like my experience, presented in a positive and inspiring way. And that things matter because we say they do and no one can take that away.
