Sketching without expectation or goal. Reviving the play element whilst taking my time. I’ve had huge long term overload these days and am spending most of my time sleeping, resting and recovering with hardly any contact with the outside world. I’ve been hesitant to share these things because I don’t want to be overly dramatic or get attention/sympathy for being ill right now. But I think it’s important people know this side of being autistic as well. It may seem that for some of us life is easy and nothing seems to be wrong because we look sort of normal or maybe just eccentric in a cute way.. but hardly anyone sees the immense effort that goes on under the surface to be able to function at the minimal level expected of us whilst coping with sensory hypersensitivity amongst many other things.

Hey so I now have an account on Dreamwidth and I am waiting for a registration link for Pillowfort (that account will probably have the same name as the Dreamwidth one). I’m also waiting for Tumblr to backup my blogs. 

After I have the backup and make an account on Pillowfort, I will be leaving Tumblr. I won’t delete the blogs, I will just let the queue run out and then that’s it.

Autism:

Autism is like a second skin,

like a snake that wraps around you and won’t let go,

it gets scared by loud noises,

by crowds and perfume,

it gets scared and squeezes round

your ribs

making it

hard

to

breath

It slithers in your skull,

clogging the thinking space,

it slithers in the space between words,

autism speaks parcel-tongue

and the snake has to interpret all others

causing a

…..delay

Autism heightens senses

it makes certain foods inedible,

certain clothing unwearable.

Autism is a snake around your shoulders

it gains weight around people,

getting heavier and heavier

until you can no longer stand

It is also a friend,

to wrap around your hand,

to decorate your hair,

it slithers into your heart

and

keeps you apart

but you don’t care,

because the snake is always there

Autism is a snake

a snake you’ll never shake,

there asleep and awake,
