Updated Skin Care Routine
Happy 2020 everyone! It’s been a hot minute, so here’s to my yearly post! I’m gonna attempt to do better this year, maybe do a post every month! WOOHOO Probably not, but it’s the thought that counts, right? But anyways, here is an updated skincare routine for the 1 person that might see this. I turned 27 towards the end of last year, so I’ve been slowly adding in anti-aging products into my routine, so let’s hope my skin stays young forever! (I should’ve introduced anti-aging products sooner, but my skin hates retinol so I’ve been avoiding it.)
Updated as of January 15th, 2020.

Acne update
I’m 7 months on accutane and I thought I’d give you an update. My skin is doing GREAT. Greater than ever before, ngl. No oil coming out of my pores whatsoever. When I apply a bit of make up in the morning it looks exactly the same twelve hours later. I don’t even need foundation really, I just do it out of habit.
My hair doesn’t get greasy at all, so I only have to wash it once a week. Awesome lol.
My psyche is suffering though. Today is exceptionally rough for some reason. I don’t want to go out and see anyone anymore. I’m only happy when I’m alone at home, the only way I’m able to relax and recharge my batteries is by staying at home, preferably all by myself.
I’ve had a tough week at work. It was my first week after the Christmas holidays and my colleague got sick, so I had to do both of our stuff, which always sucks. Then we made plans for the weekend, which I usually spent at home lately.
We planned to go out for dinner with friends on Friday, have brunch with other friends on Saturday, then go out Saturday evening and have lunch for my Grandad‘s birthday on Sunday (Yeah we’re eating a lot). That’s a lot of social interaction, but I never had a problem with that. And it’s mostly sitting and chatting, so nothing physically challenging. Meeting friends and going out is fun. Has been fun.
But it gave me anxiety apparently. I was on pins and needles all week just thinking about how little time I‘d have for myself and to charge energy for the next week of work.
Yesterday evening, when we had dinner with friends, I suddenly got nauseous after eating and thought I’d throw up right at our table. I couldn’t eat more than one bite of my dessert, which is alarming, because I always finish dessert lol. I felt better eventually though.
Today we had our brunch and I didn’t feel my best either. My stomach was upset again, I was so tired and just felt drained. When I got home the only thing I could think about was that I had to go out at night, which made my stomach ache worse and my limbs hurt. I thought I’d get the flu or something.
So I told Rob I’d rather stay at home and guess what. I instantly felt better. Stomach feels fine and nothing hurts. I suddenly don’t feel tired, my body relaxes.
That’s not a normal thing for me. I usually don’t get stressed out when I meet my friends; that should be a thing I enjoy. And I always do, when I push myself to do it, but it feels like such a huge amount of work and it’s so much easier to just be lazy and stay home. Idk...
Those days are rare, but they happen and I feel like shit and like a burden. It sucks but I know tomorrow will be better :)
day 24 of accutane
• I’m miserable
• did you know conjunctivitis is a symptom of accutane? I didn’t. I do now.
• I have chest pains all the time
• my skin is so unbelievably dry
• just getting into the chapped lips stage, let me tell you: it’s not just “oh my lips are kinda dry” it’s “oh my lips have split in 5 places?? ohh and it stings like fuck to put chapstick on?? oh and it’s necessary to put chapstick on every five minutes?”
• I feel sick
• I get headaches more often than usual
• it’s not just your lips and face that get dry, oh no!! problem with eczema in the past?? well, get ready to welcome it back!!
• my eyes are really dry too (that could be the conjunctivitis though)
• oh yeah also dry scalp
• like literally every inch of your skin will be dry it’s so fun
• my moods are all over the place, my mental health has been struggling a lot
• finally (fingers crossed) moving out of the “gets worse before it gets better” phase where every spot you get hurts really bad
10.17.17. // On this day I got all my Korean skincare from Wishtrend in the mail!! And thus began the glorious journey of my skin actually clearing up and I’ve hardly had any breakouts since starting!! It’s a miracle!!! :D
(more info on what the heck I’m talking about) Lol not sponsored I spent way too much money on this stuff, but totally worth it because my skin is doing SO MUCH BETTER, best skin I’ve had in years.
I have a dermatologist appointment tomorrow morning and I'm glad my skin is healing well, I'm wearing makeup in this pic I took today but it was very light makeup and this is by far the best my skin has looked under makeup in a very very long time, and u can also see some of my scars on my neck but that's ok because I haven't had a cystic breakout on my neck since I started taking birth control in January (which is pretty sweet), it's such a long process but I know it'll all be worth it.
day 10 of accutane:
• dryness!!!
• so my face and lips are starting to get super dry and flaky, not loving that.
• probably won’t be able to get my brows waxed again for the duration of the course
• still getting breakouts
• not massively noticing acne fading
• oh my bones sure are achy!!! I’ve been having muscle aches from like day 2!
anyone else who’s been on accutane that during the “your skin will get worse before it gets better” phase have problems in that every single spot you get is incredibly painful and big? I’m really struggling with it atm
