I just wanted to thank you guys for all the Wrimo advice back at the start of the month! I checked out writeordie (holy goodness that was terrifying, but effective!) and made a playlist for my novel. both were supremely helpful! I even have a friend who gets my ass in gear on slow days now. Thanks so much again! I really appreciated it! Now, to see if I actually finish...

Yay!  Go you!  I'm glad those helped.  You can definitely finish, and we're all rooting for you.

(I'll admit that if the WriteOrDie noise to say I'm taking too long is the Banana Phone song, sometimes I'll sit and listen to it instead of getting back to work :/  )

Just wanted to send some extra love to those who are attempting Camp NaNoWriMo. This is my first year and I'm finding it kind of difficult to stay motivated, so I sympathize!

Motivation Strategy Brainstorming Time!

Mix tapes!  Fill it with songs that remind you of characters, plot points, tone, or setting.  Listen to it to get yourself pumped up or while you're plotting.  Some songs I associate with my current project play pretty often on the radio, and every time it comes on I'm reminded how much I like my project.

Get some people to support you.  I think you should do it because you're awesome, and so is your writing, and so is your story.  But it might be more meaningful to hear that from a close friend or family member.  If you find a person who really wants to read your story, it's harder to stop writing it.

Get someone to yell at you.  Did you hit your word count today?  Go do it then.  I'm serious.  Your excuses bore me.

On a similar note: Write or die.

Disconnect from the internet or turn off your router.

Remember that it doesn't have to be perfect.  Just writing a whole bunch of mess is still more productive than staring at your empty text document or thinking about writing.  Things get better with editing.

Anyone else have any motivation tips?

I meant to mention this earlier but I just remembered now... Was someone going though a David Bowie phase a few weeks ago? ;) "Rebel Rebel", "Changes", "The Power of Voodoo" and "Under Pressure" as prompts .... I noticed, and totally appreciated! :D
