The ACOTAR fandom is probably the only fandom that restricts people from talking about ships in a romantasy series

But posts hating on every character are totally welcome, and yet how dare you talk about ships and their future plot with actual textual backing?

Does anyone else feel like the ACOTAR subreddit is slowly being strangled by its own moderation?

I genuinely appreciate the work the mods do to keep things civil. That matters. But categorizing any book analysis or theory as “critical,” restricting it to a single day of the week, and then allowing the rest of the sub to be dominated by fangirling, memes, and shipping feels… bizarre for a forum that’s supposed to be about books.

Case in point: a post analyzing Rhys’s motivations UTM was deleted today because it isn't “Critical Tuesday.” Jesus Christ.

I understand that people engage with stories differently, and reading purely for the vibes is completely valid. That being said...

I’m not especially interested in seeing:

The 972nd photo of an IKEA dresser, poorly painted with stars, flames, and flowers

Weekly “This is Amren to me” [insert image of Edna Mode] posts

Screenshots of text messages from some stranger’s husband offering lukewarm first-read takes

BUT I just scroll past those types of posts and opt to focus on the ones that are more my speed. Why can't 'vibe' readers do the same with analytical posts?

At some point, shouldn’t there be room for actual discussion of the text?

I had someone on Reddit absolutely lose their mind over the fact that I’m drawing “hot fae dudes as chibis” and not as sexy hot men as the way god intended

I’ve never seen anyone lose their mind over chibis but I was also expecting it tbh. It’s the main reason I didn’t even try to draw fanart of them until like a good few years later. The fandom has so much realistic/semi realistic artists so I felt I’d b out of place (I don’t feel that now bc I guys keep gassing me up 💖)

People really think Elain is leaving the Night court to go to the Spring court and that she is going end up with T*mlin 🤢 or with L*cien 😬.

You can really see they don't understand Elain's character or what she wants. They didn't pay attention to the books and now they resume Elain to flowers.

Isolating Elain in another court and putting her with her sister's abuser or with a man she doesn't like isn't SJM's plan. They don't care about Elain and it shows.

Just saw a stupid take on reddit that is saying shit about Rhysand, N.esta, Elain and Azriel to hype up Luc*en. I'm not really going to say anything over there because it's not even worth it.

People hating on the IC are so funny because we gonna get lots of moments with them in CC3 and Acotar 5.

Someone made a post on reddit comparing Twilight's main couples to the Bat Boys/Archeron sisters. A post like this appears from time to time and some people get really mad in the comments whether it is because they don't like that Acotar is being compared to Twilight or because they don't like the Elriel comparison to Alice/Jasper.

Guess what guys, SJM is going for the broody guy/sweet girl trope in Acotar 5 and there's nothing you can do about it.
