Acousmatics
Pierre Schaeffer is known as the founder of musique concrete, as well as a theorist of musical listening.
I understood his description of Acousmatic listening similar to a phenomenological approach, since it lacks musical and historical reference.
In his approach to musical listening he strongly suggests that the source of the sound be hidden from view (for example, a violin player should be hidden behind a curtain), so that the listener can truly interpret the sound (the violin player could be heard as a specific harmonic series created with a synthesizer). He believes that the invention of the record player and the radio have made Acousmatic listening all the more simpler.
It it interesting to reconsider the way you listen to music/sound. I ask that you should try not to distinguish instruments--but rather interpret sound.
